GIVING IN CHURCH OR OUT OF CHURCH Most Christians believe that, giving should only be done to their pastors and in their denominations only. And that is during offertory time. They pass by and ignore the needy, the widows and the orphans looking up to them. They turn a deaf ear to the cries of those who need their help. This , I feel, is because they don’t give out of love as the scripture teaches, but, they give out of fear not faith, they are manipulated and intimidated by the leaders they follow, some want to impress their men of god, a few give for show off and the lest are just confused. FEAR This is simply because the "pastor" threatens them with a curse if they don't give to him directly. The pastors quote Malachi 3.10. But they should also read for their congregations Mathew 6.3-4, Mathew 25.34-37 and James 1.27. Knowing many other scriptures teaching about this topic will set the masses free from fear. They will still give in church but in faith cheerfully giving thanks and glory to God. MANIPULATION AND INTIMIDATION Many have been brain washed to believe that, they can only be blessed when they give in their respective churches, on the 'altar'. The 'pastor' would pretend that god is demanding a certain amount, four figure or five figure amount which you must submit to the man of god, failure to which something terrible might befall you and your family, like death, sickness, divorce, losing a job or a business. They surrender without questions. TO IMPRESS THE 'MAN OF GOD' The man of god is usually inclined to those who give him bigger amounts of money; those are the ones he visits at their homes and the ones he puts in leadership positions. Because of that, many of their followers cannot give money to windows and orphans and risk losing the attention of the pastor, lose their positions in their denominations or favor from their leaders. That is why envelopes must be clearly labeled with the givers names and contacts for identification. SHOW OFF Some give publicly for show off. If they give to the poor window or orphan nobody will know. They are looking for praises from men. Some neglect their family responsibilities and give in public for applause at the expense their families dire needs. CONFUSION AND CONTRADICTIONS Wrong teachings, self-deceptions and cultic translation of the scriptures are a great contributors to the neglect of widows, orphans and the needy in the society.

Example 1, Just suppose a pastor has told his followers not to give to the poor because when you give you are giving your spirit to them and in exchange receive a spirit from them, the spirit of poverty. Example 2, Imagine people in elite churches who are taught that it is wrong to mix with the poor because when you mix with them you become just like them. We have heard them on TV’s. Where in the bible is that written? In conclusion, there is a lot of misconception about giving to the needy in the society in relation to giving in church. This is simply because they don’t read the bible by themselves. Their church leaders read and interpret for them. They don’t read like the ‘noble bereans’ who would confirm whether what they are taught is biblical or not, in Acts 17.10-11. They were cautious of what they take in.
