CDA Gold Standard Training Certification
The new CDA Gold Standard Training Certification provides public recognition to organizations who work in collaboration with the Council to demonstrate their commitment to advancing professional development for CDA candidates. The Gold Standard is intended to be a guide for CDA candidates that helps them find providers that implement and deliver the highest quality training based on the Council’s demanding criteria. THE GOLD STANDARD REPRESENTS: • PROFESSIONAL RECOGNITION that distinguishes your organization as a verified high-quality provider to CDA candidates. • CERTIFICATION that the training and professional development you provide are aligned with the Council’s subject matter areas and competency criteria and desired outcomes. • ACCOUNTABILITY THROUGH EVIDENCE that your organization meets the Council’s rigorous criteria for professional development, business practices, and candidate services. • COLLABORATION with the Council in meeting the training and preparation needs of CDA candidates. • ACKNOWLEDGEMENT of a demonstrated commitment to improving practitioner’s skills as early educators and the advancement of the profession.

The Importance of the CDA Gold Standard Early educators from across the country and U.S. territories contact the Council daily seeking guidance with selecting training organizations. With the CDA Gold Standard, the Council is addressing a real market need created by the demands of CDA candidates seeking quality training.

How to Earn the CD Gold Standard The Council recognizes the need for a trusted highquality certification that creates well- informed CDA candidates. Many CDA candidates receive trainings and professional development from multiple sources and from different types of organizations. That’s why the Council is offering two types of The CDA Gold Standards Training Certification: Comprehensive and Select. To earn The CDA Gold Standard Training Certification Comprehensive you must: • Align with all Eight CDA Subject Areas and provide support for CDA candidates for the entire credentialing process • Demonstrate sound business policies and practices • Provide quality Candidate service • Complete a verification visit by a Council trained reviewer To earn The CDA Gold Standard Training Certification Select you must: • Align with a minimum of four of the Eight CDA Subject Areas • Demonstrate sound business policies and practices • Provide quality Candidate service • Complete a verification visit by a Council trained reviewer To earn The CDA Gold Standard Training Certification for either a Comprehensive or a Select type - you must: • Meet the Council’s rigorous assessment criteria including the mandatory submission of evidence based on the Council’s required criteria and a verification visit by a Council trained reviewer.

Assessment Principles Both types of The CDA Gold Standard Training Certification are built upon three primary principles that every organization must meet: 1. CDA® Formal Education Coursework Alignment 2. Business Policies and Practices 3. Quality Candidate Service
PRINCIPLE 1: CDA® FORMAL EDUCATION COURSEWORK ALIGNMENT Ask Yourself: How well does the CDA education and preparation program offered by your organization align with the Eight CDA® Subject Areas? Gold SGold Standard applicants must focus on high quality instruction that improves practitioner’s skills and prepares them for the CDA application process. This is determined by providing evidence that the coursework and training content offered within their programs are aligned with the Council’s Eight CDA Subject Areas. These rigorous CDA subject areas are comprised of the required main areas of core knowledge that are put into practice in early childhood programs daily.
PRINCIPLE 2: BUSINESS POLICIES AND PRACTICES Ask Yourself: In what ways does your organization manage and sustain effective, ethical business practices? How does your organization ensure program accountability? Gold Standard applicants must demonstrate program accountability by providing evidence of ethical business policies and practices; and, demonstrate the ability to sustain the high quality of the programs and courses offered. The intent is to ensure that CDA candidates receive well-defined, appropriate and relevant content.
PRINCIPLE 3: QUALITY CANDIDATE SERVICE Ask Yourself: What do your Candidates say about your organization’s programs and your service delivery? How do you ensure excellence in meeting Candidate’s educational and professional needs? Gold Standard applicants must provide evidence from participants that they serve the CDA candidate community with excellence. Quality candidate service emphasizes your organization’s ability to offer a CDA professional development preparation experience that provides comprehensive or select services to students, aligns with the goal of acquiring a CDA and supports professional development that prepares candidates for successful completion of the training program.
Your Gold Standard Seal is a Recognition of Quality! Use of The CDA Gold Standard Training Certification seals will be awarded to qualifying organizations for three years. The Council will provide successful organizations with guidelines on the acceptable use of the seals. During the three-year award period, the Council and the qualifying organization will monitor the success rates of CDA candidates using the organization’s services as a continued assurance of quality performance.
