The task of the competition was to refunctionalize a factory, situated at the suburbian area of Bologna, into a space for culture and leisure . New type of cultural centre should containing temporary accomodation, day care, restaurant, theater, sport facilities, workshop rooms, multi-purpose rooms, exhibition hall and so-called “art hotel”. In our design we have considered some existing references with a successful public space. Our project presents a cultural centre with a stimulating public spaces, encouraging people to meet and interact. In a result the new space for culture works as a catalyst for suburbian district in the former industrial park. The typology of the factory has encouraged us to create a plaza, a new centre in the suburbian, former industrial area of Bologna. We took advantage of the composition of the modern solids in order to create an urban interior.
