Professors study sexual assault trials to learn how evidence pieces fit together When Drs. Heather Hlavka and Sameena Mulla joined the Department of Social and Cultural Sciences in 2008, the two quickly learned they shared a research interest â€” sexual violence against women. For both professors, this interest was spurred by the experiences of friends who became part of a disturbing statistic: One in five women has been sexually assaulted.
