Vision: The Choice for High School Education Mission: Marquette Catholic High School is a Catholic educational community that promotes a college preparatory curriculum rooted in the Gospel values of peace, freedom, love and justice. We afford students opportunities to develop a personal relationship with Jesus and a love for His Church. We challenge students academically, socially and spiritually. As a means of fulfilling our mission, the entire Marquette community will always seek to maintain focus upon these Core Values:
Faith Honesty Leadership Respect Service 4
March 12, 2011 The School’s 125th Year
Dear Friends: On behalf of the members of the Marquette Catholic High School professional staff and student body, and the Board of Trustees and its various Committees, we bid you welcome. Marquette Catholic is a vital part of the Michigan City area community. Our students come to us from schools in Michigan City and neighboring communities, and together we blend into a high school whose personality and character are marked by a commitment to academic achievement, athletic challenge and growth in spiritual life. We have been blessed with wonderful families who have supported us through the years; our programs and activities are wide and varied and serve many people; our teachers and administrators teach and guide our students while they proudly serve the Michigan City and surrounding communities; our planning processes continue to invite and involve many people to shape the future for Marquette Catholic; the list is virtually endless. Despite all of our blessings, we still have much to do. As Archbishop Oscar Romero once said, “We plant seeds that one day will grow. We water seeds already planted, knowing that they hold future promise. We lay foundations that will need further development.” This year’s Spring Fling will further develop the foundation that has been laid. Tonight you are helping us improve and enhance the technology that is available to our students and maintain our buildings and campus. And, most importantly, you are enabling Marquette to continue to offer the exemplary Catholic education that is the Marquette tradition. Marquette is more than just a high school. We are an ideal. We are the living expression of parents wishing to give their children the best Catholic education. We provide our students with the spiritual background needed to live in an ever more complex society. Our academic preparation is exemplary. Together, these two components are joined to effect the education of the total person - providing an education with moral values and ethics. We are a high school, an ideal, a family and a future for ourselves and the community in which we all live, work and serve. We are Marquette Catholic! God bless you for your support in this effort. With faith in our future –
