The Lord is my Shepherd I shall not fear, He makes me rest in green pastures....
Hello everybody! WHAT’S UP IN MY LIFE SOMD 2010-2011
As many of you already might know, I’m currently doing SOMD. It’s been a stretching time for me. Many challenges showed up on the way but I can definitely talk about it as the richest time of my walk with God so far. Our lecture phase is over now (sorry guys, it took me time to write you) and outreach is taking place. Before telling you about it, let me give you the background informations of my presence in the States for the second time.
Still the same lovely base... Another season of life... A different stage with God...
GOD OPENING DOORS...
After DTS, i did a whole year of internships to enter college in social work. I was supposed to enter university last september (2010) but there was no more room for me. I had to wait another year. As I was looking for a job to make money and then travel, the Lord put SOMD in my heart. Out of the blue He asked me to consider doing the school. It was 3 weeks before it started. My reponse was “Ok. But You open doors for me to go” In 2 weeks I had everything I needed to go (money, visa, flight tickets, etc ). God is faithful! He’s huge!
I Love You Guys!
So much fun!
SOMD, WHAT A SCHOOL! The 3 months of SOMD lecture phase were probably the most challenging 3 months of my life! I AM SO THANKFUL TO GOD FOR ENTRUSTING ME AS A LEADER WHO WILL EVER BE GROWING. SOMD LECTURE PHASE:
I can’t tell you how much God worked in me during these 3 months of lecture phase! It’s been incredibly awesome to watch it and incredibly tough at time to go through. Coming to Mexico City, I really had the conviction that God wanted to work on my spiritual and emotional maturity and I can testify today of all the work He’s already done. When I was back on the base, I had a totally new change of mind. Again! Yes friends, we finish DTS and then somehow we think we’ve already been changed and shaken enough but it’s never the case. We’ll forever need God to light up the darkest places of our hearts and minds. The teachings we had were life changing and equipped us for the future. Staff Christmas on the base with DK...
During that time, I had the indescribable gift of having incredible men and women of God on my sides. (Look at the pictures, here are some of them!)
A GIFT - A BLESSED RELATIONSHIP:
For those who haven’t heard of it yet, I’m currently dating DK which stands for Daniel Kim :) It’s been 3 months already! Because of this pretty unexpected but awesome turn, I’m thinking and praying differently. My heart for Europe hasn’t changed though and more than that, my obedience to the Lord is even stronger now. Being in Mexico City, I expect God to make it really clear concerning the next step. I’d appreciate your prayers for me as I’m trying to get clear directions from the Lord, my Jesus.
Before I left for Mexico... My 21st birthday...
GOD AND HIS AWESOME WORK SO FAR... MEXICO CITY WITH MEGACITIES!
SOMD outreach was optional, after praying I felt like the Lord was leading me to do an outreach in Mexico City. Our team is a baby team, only 3 persons: Brenden Archie, Megan Sterling and myself. Here, we joined a DTS outreach team from YWAM Perth Australia. It’s been a huge blessing to be a part of their team. All of them are God’s treasures!
Amor ministerios afternoon with my little brother Alejandro
Being here, we’ve been able to partner with many churches and youth groups. The purpose of Megacities is to equip the local churches and work on the long term by giving them tools to take ownership of their own city. We’ve also worked with a boys home called Amor ministerios. I can’t tell you how much those 30 boys rescued from the street have become like our little brothers. Every week we go there to share about God, disciple them but also just love on them. We play sports and games and it’s
been a personal blessing to get to be a part of their lives! Finally, I’d say that the biggest ministry opportunity we have here, is open air evangelism. Mexico City is such an open place. People are hungry for God and it is so easy to share the Gospel with them! Recently, we met two nineteen years old guys in the street. After sharing the good news with them, they gave their life to God. He delivered them from their drugs addictions and these two men have changed so much that you can see the difference on their faces. We meet them every week at church and they make our lives better.
“As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him— you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.” 1 Peter 2: 4-5
- I will be back in LA on march 15th - I’m in a process of repaying my parents for lecture phase - I will see what God wants for me but I might stay a bit longer on the base - I had planned to go to university in switzerland and it is still an option for the future. Friends from all around the world, thank you for reading my newsletter!!! Greetings from our friend Beni the Bunny!
