Implementation tagging

Implementation Semilo tags This document describes the implementation of the advertising tags used by Semilo for serving display advertisements. The tagging consists of three different parts, all explained in this document. If there are any questions about this implementation please don't hesitate to contact support@semilo.nl.

Part 1 – basis + targeting settings The first part of the script is the basis and determines the targeting options available on the website. This part needs to be placed into the
section of your website.

highly recommended. The parameters sSite, sZone and keyword may never me removed.

sSite This parameter identifies your website in our system. This value will be provided to you by our technical department and should never be changed or left open. If in doubt please contact our support department. sZone If your website contains several content categories (like News, Tests, Clients or Automotive, Sports and so on) this can be entered as the sZone parameter. If your categories contain subcategories (for instance Sports/Soccer) you can enter the sZone as follows: sZone=”sports/soccer”; The purpose of the sZone is to enable more specific targeting on certain types of content. Keyword Do you offer search options on your website? Then you can use the keyword parameter for specifying these search queries so we can target advertisements based on these keywords. Multiple keywords can be seperated by commas. You need to leave 'keyword=””' in the code, even if you don't use keywords. If your website contains forms with fixed search parameters, you can use the adParams method below. Other parameters (adParams) Additional targeting can be passed to our system by using ad parameters. These parameters (officially called key-value pairs) always contain a key and a value. The key is a fixed value, the value can obviously change per search query.

Examples of much used key-value pairs are: − a_make=volvo − city=amsterdam In the attachment you will find an overview of often used parameters. If you would like to use other parameters please contact our support department.

Part 2 – external codes The second part of the tagging exists of an externally hosted JavaScript. This script is used to gather and consolidate the targeting parameters used in the first part of the code and to call several external services used for STIR measuring and behavioral targeting. This code looks as follows: This code should also be placed in the
section of your website. The actual code might be different than what is stated above.

Part 3 – banner codes The final part of the code contains the actual call for the banner. This piece of code should be placed in the location you want to advertisement to appear. There's only one thing you can change in the part of the code, and that's the dimension of the banner. In the example above the 120x600 size banner will be displayed. Semilo supports the following (IAB standard) banner sizes: − 468x60 − 728x90 − 120x600 − 160x600 − 336x280 − 300x250 It is possible to combine multiple sizes in one tag, for instance to display both the 300x250and the 336x280 in one location. The code will then look as follows: Logical and often used size combinations are:
