2014 is a big year for Will Davison. The 31-yearold has all eyes upon him as he makes his V8 Supercar debut with new team, Erebus Motorsport, in a Mercedes Benz at Adelaide. While it was one of the most talked about driver movements for the 2014 season, Davison’s switch to Erebus was for all the right reasons. “Working with the team to develop the new cars into race win contenders is a huge motivator for me,” says Davison. “I want to be a part of that process. I believe this team has the potential to take on the best in pit lane. It may not happen overnight but it will happen and I’ll be here when it does.” One of the fastest drivers in the current field,

Davison’s switch was a huge coup for the new V8 team. “Will Davison is already one of the sport’s most successful and professional drivers, and he is the perfect fit for us, in and out of the car,” said popular team owner Betty Klimenko “He’s an impressive young man and we all are looking forward to working with him to take on the very best there is in our sport.” In his fourth year as part of the Doric family, Davison is determined to push to the front of the field in 2014 and will start this weekend at Clipsal, where he has tasted plenty of success in the past.

Bathurst 1000 winner Mark Winterbottom returns for his ninth season with Ford Performance Racing in 2014. With a few new changes this year, Frosty says the squad is fresh and ready to challenge at the pointy end of the field at Clipsal. “Overall, the whole team is in the best mindset for the year ahead,” says Winterbottom. The 32-year-old has a new teammate in Chaz Mostert this season, who he says has fit right in with the team. “Chaz is probably the most similar team-mate to me I’ve ever had, we’ve come from the same type of background so I have a lot of respect for him,” Winterbottom said.

“He hasn’t had cheques written for him and I know how hard he’s worked so it will be really good to drive alongside him. “It is nice to get some young hungry guys in the other cars as that pushes everyone.” After finishing the 2013 V8 Supercars Championship in fourth place, Winterbottom is looking to build upon his success and put together a strong campaign to take on the opposition in a big way this year. With the confidence of a Bathurst win behind him, Winterbottom is without a doubt one to watch this year and will be out to lay down a strong foundation at the season opener at Adelaide.

CHAZ STEPS UP TO THE FACTORY FORD TEAM AFTER A STELLAR ROOKIE YEAR FOR THE UNDERFUNDED DJR SQUAD >>

Chaz Mostert has been waiting for his call up to Ford Performance Racing for a long time. Backed by the squad since 2011, Mostert has been patiently waiting for his turn to take up a seat in one of the team’s main game cars. 2014 will be the 21-year-old’s first full V8 Supercars season after a late and unexpected call-up to the main series last year with Dick Johnson Racing saw the young gun prove he most certainly had the talent to drive for Ford’s official factory team. “Obviously this is a dream this year to be driving for the Pepsi Max Crew in car six and I am really excited to get some good results for the team and for myself,” says Mostert.

“I’m looking forward to creating some noise both on and off the track for the Pepsi Max Crew. “There is an awesome engineering group here so the hard work ahead will be made easier by the support of such a great bunch of people.” Mostert took his first V8 Supercar race win at Queensland Raceway last year, and is sure to be pushing at the front of the pack again in 2014. “I can’t wait for Adelaide to come around. It is going to be a physically and mentally tough start to the year but all drivers start the year with zero points on the board so I will just give it my all and see where I end up at the end of my first full year in V8 Supercars.”

Australian Touring Car legend John Bowe is back for another round of the Touring Car Masters Series. The Doric ambassador will again strap into his beloved 1969 Ford Mustang, Nicknamed ‘Mustang Sally’. “I love the Touring Car Masters,” says Bowe. “They’re such great cars that are as fun to watch as they are to drive.” “Mustang Sally has had a bit of a tune up over the break so she’s in fine form for Clipsal. We had a test a couple of weeks ago and I’m happy to report she’s a bit sweeter to drive.” Bowe is determined to get back to his titlewinning ways in 2014, after finishing a close second last season.

“I always want to win,” laughs Bowe. “There’s some great drivers in this category, there really is. It’s no easy feat to beat guys like Jim Richards and Andrew Meidecke, but as always, we’ll give it a red hot go.” Buoyed by his recent win at the Bathurst 12 Hour, where he shared a Ferrari 458 with Craig Lowndes, Mika Salo and Peter Edwards, Bowe is ready and raring to get started on his TCM campaign. “I love the Clipsal event and with just seven rounds on our calendar, it’s really important to get a good start, so I can’t wait to stop talking about it and just get out there on track!”

2014 marks a historic milestone for Doric Racing. The coming season is the Aussie brand’s 10th year of involvement in V8 Supercars ad motorsport in Australia. Starting with a sponsorship program alongside Rupprecht Motorsports in 2004, Doric’s involvement has come a long way over the past decade. In 2005 Doric forged a partnership with Paul Cruickshank Racing in the V8 Supercar Development Series. The following year Doric moved up to the main V8 Supercar Championship with PCR. It was in 2009 when a Doric-sponsored car

graced a podium for the first time, with Fabian Coulthard claiming third at Symmons Plains. For the past three years Doric has thrown its support behind top outfit Ford Performance Racing and driver Will Davison, while John Bowe has proudly flown the flag for Doric in the Touring Car Masters series for the last four years to great success. From Tim Slade and James Moffat in V8 Supercars to Wayne Maxwell and Jamie Stauffer in the Australian Superbike Championship, Doric is proud of its history of motor racing in Australia and is delighted to continue to throw its support behind Australia’s best racing talent.

John Bowe claimed his third Bathurst 12 Hour race alongside Craig Lowndes, Mika Salo and Peter Edwards in a Ferrari 458 on February 9. Qualifying on the front row of the grid, the Maranello Motorsports-prepared Ferrari was off to a flying start early on, before tragically falling a lap down through the middle part of the race. But after a solid stint by Bowe and a standout performance by Salo, the team was back on the lead lap at three quarter distance and heading for the front of the pack. Following some excellent strategy calls around safety cars and pit stops, Bowe and the boys were back at the front of the field, working hard to keep the approaching opposition at bay.

In a dramatic finish, the #88 Ferrari held off the charging competition, taking victory by just half a second. “The car was good from the first day on the mountain,” said Bowe, following the race. “I’ve worked with the boys at Maranello before. They did a great job today and honestly deserve this win.” “And these guys are just amazing race drivers and I’m just truly happy to be a part of it all. “At one point we were a lap down, so to come back from that is really an amazing effort. “The whole team worked so hard and it’s great to see it all come together in the end.”

Will Davison made a strong debut with Erebus Motorsport on February 9, taking third place in the Bathurst 12 Hour in a stunning display of grit and determination. Marking not just his first race for his new team, but also his first race in the GT category race at Bathurst, first 12 Hour, and first race in the Erebus’s Mercedes Benz SLS, Will and co-drivers Jack Le Brocq and Greg Crick had to work hard to fight back to the podium after sustaining damage early on in the race. The #63 Mercedes Benz SLS hit a Kangaroo at the top of the mountain just a few laps from the start, damaging the front splitter and causing a huge loss of downforce.

But despite falling a lap behind the leaders at one point during the race, Davison, Le Brocq and Crick fought back to salvage a remarkable third place. “The accident with the kangaroo just a few laps in was such a disappointing way to start the race,” said Davison. “But it’s just been an unbelievable day. Shane [van Gisbergen] was behind me there at the end, but after ripping the front splitter off, the only positive was that we went really fast in a straight line! “We had a tough time with the car today so to be able to salvage this opportunity is great. “To finish on the podium was an outstanding result I wouldn’t have believed it earlier today!”

Doric Ambassador Will Davison’s move to the Erebus Motorsport team to race an AMG Mercedes Benz E63 was the biggest news of the V8 Supercar Championship off-season. Will’s controversial switch to the Betty Klimenko owned team, which debuted its Mercedes V8 Supercar racers at the beginning of the 2013 season, has created enormous interest. “Some see it as a big risk but I don’t … I genuinely believe this team is going to be a benchmark in pitlane in terms of performance and presentation, and I’ve made the move at the right time,” Will Davison says. “This is a chance for me to lead the program, to build something around me, to influence priorities and together turn the Erebus Mercedes Benz program into a great success.” Although he’s already made one successful race start for Erebus, driving an Mercedes Benz SLS to third place in last month’s Bathurst 12 Hour GT event, the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide will mark Will’s V8 Supercar debut for his new team.

Just how he, and the latest-spec Erebus Mercedes Benz goes, will be one of the talking points of this year’s Clipsal 500. There, he will go up against his old team, the Doricsupported Ford Performance Racing operation with long-time driver Mark Winterbottom and newcomer Chaz Mostert. Winterbottom, fourth in the 2013 Championship behind Davison, heads to Clipsal as one of the race favourites in the well-proven PepsiMax Falcon while Davison’s replacement Mostert will be another driver being watched with great interest.

Adelaide’s Clipsal 500 last year was a mixed bag for Doric Ambassador Will Davison and his Ford Performance Racing (FPR) teammate Mark Winterbottom. Will started the season strongly with a podium in the first leg on the Saturday, third, and backed that up on the Sunday with sixth, despite bent steering and a delay in the pits during a stop. By contrast, Winterbottom’s season started disastrously when he was a first lap retirement in Saturday’s opening leg of the event with transmission failure. Ironically, having started from the front row of the grid, ‘Frosty’ had charged to a big opening lap lead when the gearbox broke.

Sunday was a little better, Winterbottom recovering from a pitstop delay to finish fifth just ahead of his teammate. It was the first hit-out for what was then called the ‘Car of the Future’ (now known as the New Generation cars) which were significantly different to the V8 Supercars that had gone before them, so teething troubles were not unexpected. Nonetheless it was the start of a season that ultimately saw the Doric-supported FPR finish second in the Team’s Championship, while Doric Ambassador Davison and teammate Winterbottom finished third and fourth in the Driver’s title.
