Determination ―I'd run my whole life long to reach you; paddle my way across Atlantic and Pacific; traverse Jungle and Desert to find you; climb cliffs and drop from the sky to rescue you. Anything to be close to you. Any way to say I love you.‖ ― Heather Kris Thomas

―Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever. That surrender, even the smallest act of giving up, stays with me. So when I feel like quitting, I ask

The Meaning of Life

“Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard”

You can’t define the meaning of life. If you do then your forever in search of it. If you sit and search for the meaning your life will pass you by. If I had to try and label it id say live freely. Live as if everyday is your last and never pass up an opportunity of any kind because you'll never know where the road you just passed might take you.

―You will never be happy if you continue to search for what happiness consists of. You will never live if you are looking for the meaning of life.‖ ― Albert Camus

Most Influential Person He took care of and raised a kid that wasn’t his. He loved me unconditionally and never treated me differently. He taught me not only what it meant to be a father but a dad and a man of his word. He is my dad (step-dad), Alan W. Todd. When I was born, my biological father was a waste of space and he left my mother and me to fend for ourselves.

Eventually she met what I would come to call my dad, and told him she had a son. Usually the normal coward man would ―runaway‖ because they weren’t ready for that kind of responsibility and commitment. Or they don’t want kids that are some other man’s. But, something amazing happened that day he smiled and said ―ok‖. It was like he was willing

to give up his life to be a part of ours. He never once ousted me for not being his he treated me as if I were his own son and I’ll never forget the sacrifice he made to take care of me. To this day I’m not scared of waking up and him not being there, because he will forever be in my life. Caption describing picture or graphic.

What I’ll Miss the Most Lunch, the epitome of high school or so I thought. Where the popular kids, the athletes or snobs, ran the cafeteria and did whatever they wanted. As an eighth grader the only thing I actually knew of was the myths I was told my seventh grade year. We would be able to leave school and get McDonald’s; you could go home for lunch and other things. I was so excited to be able to leave and even if I didn’t I heard all the chairs were booths. First day of freshman year I didn’t even pack my lunch. I left the classroom

planning on leaving and getting McDonald’s and found out there’s like five booths and the rest tables and that we can’t leave. Upset and feeling stupid for believing I went along with the rest of the school year, while the food wasn’t that bad. Then they took away French fries and big bosco sticks sophomore year. After that junior year they get rid of taco meat and the cheese. Now I am stuck getting spicy

chicken every day due to the fact if I get the new more healthy portioned food ill starve. All I know is school lunch is overpriced for the bad portions we get.

Don’t cry cause it’s over, smile cause it happened.” -Dr.Suess

Who Am I...

Museum

As a person I’m a listener, a healer, and a friend. Most people use me but not in a bad context. They use me as to when there in trouble or when they have a problem they trust me enough to confide in me. Sometimes it is rough and I don’t want to do it, because I mean who am I to judge, and when I’m not in the mood, I really don’t want to help because I don’t care. It’s nice to

know people trust me though. It shows I’m a good guy and I’m not just one of the many, I’m an individual. When I really don’t feel like helping it’s not that I’m a jerk, it’s usually because I don’t have an answer. I mean how do you tell someone who is ―lost‖ that comes

School Memory “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” -Michael Jordan

Looking back on my high school years, my most memorable moment has to be my sophomore year track season. The pain I went through to get there, the motivation I had to prove people wrong and the belief from my coach and peers that I could do it. Then I was there, the moment I had been waiting for the whole season. It was my time to shine and the pressure was on. As I placed my feet in the starting blocks, my heart raced, my muscles tightened and my mind scattered. Then it happened. So let us go back 7 months to the off-season winter track training, which started in November. I had just got back to working out with no

hopes of being a varsity runner ever. Especially after my freshman year performances, which I can say were the worst ever. However, I came in with no expectations and no hope of ever being a top class athlete. Then I got the news that we had a new mid distance coach by the name of Kyle Goodwin. He introduced himself gave us all a handshake and said, ―I’m ready to coach this team. I see a lot of potential in you boys‖. At that moment, I knew he wasn’t just saying it, he meant it whole-heartedly. Then he hand chose a team of people to run an event called the 4x400 meter relay. The hardest and most anticipated event in all of track and field due to the sheer physicali-

to that you don’t know how to help. One, it makes you feel bad and two you could and can potentially make it worse for the person you’re trying to help. Overall id never give up my role as a friend because who knows how many lives I may or may not save throughout my life if all you need is someone to talk to.

ty you are required to have. As he is going through his selections, he had chosen me and I knew I wasn’t a good fit and that I wasn’t going to make varsity or be able to be competitive in this event. So training starts and it is the most my body has ever been put through physically, in my life even now. Then we have our first meet and the next one and the next one and I realize I’m not failing, I’m actually really good and I’m the fastest one out of the four on the varsity team. Eventually I get to the state meet and I’m down in my blocks and the gun snaps and I’m running and I’m in first place and I love it I give off the baton and now it’s on my teammates. At the end of the day we didn’t place well but it was the greatest experience I’ll ever have.

The Greatest Change I can only remember a dark tale. Imagine a 6 year old boy locked in a closet and a ten year old evil sister who acted like Angelica. That’s where this all takes place. My parents wanted to go out on a date night and my older step sister was the

only one home. So my parents entrusted my safety to the thing I despised most. They left and hell began. My sister started with the generic you want to play a game. I stupidly said yes and the she proceeded to tell me that there was candy in my parent’s closet. So there I go and as soon as I get in, I hear the door shut and I’m locked in. I soon begin to scream and

cry and pound on the door and nothing. I sit there for forever mad and upset. Then I get an idea let’s get her back. I sit quietly and wait then she calls my name, I don’t respond. Then she comes and opens the door, my chance, I kick the door the rest of the way open and bite her arm as hard as I could hear the ear bursting scream and run. Soon my parents get home and they see the blood on her arm ask me what happened I told them and they weren’t mad. My step sister eventually needed stiches and to this day still has the scar and my hatred

Personal Reflections on My Relationship It's that tepid emotion that situates itself upon the unbridled layers of youth that storm of chaotic opposition, which belies time and interprets the essence of a soul- that feeling that can only be activated through a catalyst of that one special person. I didn't learn her name. Names aren't important just society imposed marks that identify the impersonal qualities of a being. I wouldn't learn her name till later. She was too important her description would be from her character, not her name. Here we are. Let's begin. Beginning is always a wise choice. That day, oh that fateful day! Her eyes, a sort that bleeds and sparkles throughout the blackened night transfixed me in my state of hopelessness, my state of dreary annoyance at the misrepresentation I allowed upon me by society's innate desires to interpret based on preconceived assumptions. Her hair, brown as a form of symbolic imperfection that attributed to her face, oh her beautiful face that redefined imperfection as simply, perfection, poisoned bitterness. The sun rose as my heart fell until her. She spoke with an undefined grace, oh on that fateful day! "Wait there. Don't leave." Is what I wanted to say. People do not speak so abruptly. Her tone seemed of annoyance, but her smile, oh her beautiful smile! I was falling in love with her. She was Heavenly. I mean, life is too short to think. Why wouldn’t the words just come out? In all honesty, thinking is an excuse for not living. Thinking is just a way to prepare for what to say or it should be. Two weeks later, I had to man up. Take the plunge, I would hope wouldn’t send me into an abyss. So I jumped and she ended up catching me. Now that beautiful girl that spent some of her time getting to know me teaching me what it is to love, that wonderful girl, Amber, that to this day, I plan to spend the rest of my life with, will hopefully be my love forever.

Personal Reflections on Pop Culture Popular culture and classical music have had different sorts of relationships over the years. Oldtimers conjure up a time when radio stations supported great orchestras, television networks commissioned opera and Leopold Stokowski could shake hands with Mickey in "Fantasia" and then go home to Garbo. Classical music has never left the

cinema, Broadway stage, airways or gossip columns. But relationships change. For the most part rose-colored glasses have come off. Once portrayed as stick-figure heroes, classical artists are now more likely shown as deeply flawed misfits, outsiders to an era obsessed by pop culture like none before it. Still, they are seen, and seen quite a

bit in current films and plays that attempt to engage with the subject of classical music in pop culture terms.

now because, if we didn’t know about this disorder until recently, who’s to say there aren’t more cases or more people out there being affected by the same thing or something worse. Personally conversion disor-

der has nothing to do with my family but the disease topic in general does. My family has a long history of diseases both deadly and harmless. All diseases can be taken care of and caught earlier if you make yourself aware of them. If you think something is wrong get looked at and make sure everything is fine, because at the end of the day you don’t want to know that your life could have been saved if you had taken the necessary steps.

News Event Throughout time there has been one major thing that has steadily been growing, learning, and adapting with us rapidly, disease. There are many types of diseases in the world most incurable and unknown still. My article touches on one of the most peculiar ones, conversion disorder. This disorder affects the way you handle stress. Instead of feeling it emotionally you can act out physically almost as if you have Tourette. This affects the community, nation, and world
