It’s common these days to feel confused. Too many choices, too much programming and too many activities cloud our path. The commonplace goings on of war, natural disasters and social activities replayed on TV as well as educational and governmental institution influences continually direct us in what to believe and how to live our lives. When people have constant input and stimulation they become numb and confused. As human beings we need time not “doing” to ponder what it is we came here to “be”, and who exactly we are in the greater scheme of the cosmos. The state of confusion most people are in didn’t happen over night. For almost a hundred years the industrialization and commercialization of everything we use, do and are have confused the truth. The simple truth all sages speak of is love. If we look around us and listen...there’s a lot that’s been forgotten about the reason we are all in existence on the planet at this time. The idea of being here to experience our grandest choices and most creative visions may seem radical to many of us. But if we are born with a free will, why then would we choose to suffer instead of living lives filled with love and creativity? When I come across people who are choosing to experience all the joy there
is in each moment of life, I examine why they are different. Across all lines of race, education, income and even geographical positioning it’s choosing to look at life as a wonderful opportunity to experience joy that sets people like this apart, no matter how dire their circumstances. The opposite scenario is seen with those who have allowed confusion from all the outside concocted influences to rule their lives. News programming is one of the strongest fuels of this confusion. I watch TV news and weather only occasionally when major events occur. What is so significant for me as a regular nonviewer are the thousands of images and messages in just one hour focused on what isn’t working on the planet. I lose my bearings and begin to feel hopelessness when exposed to too much of this sort of information. What of regular, daily viewers? Conversely, when I practice my Tai Chi, yoga and the Creative I Ching every morning or spend time in nature, my spirit feels at peace and opens to my imagination. Its here I realize how I have been anesthetized in the past from experiencing why I am here and that most of what’s going on out there is a mistake. We have a choice when it comes to how we would like to live our lives and how to recreate our world. Confusion is simply the wrong choice.
