Na época, a empresa desenvolveu até um projeto, em conjunto com a Secretaria da Agricultura do Estado de São Paulo, no tempo do governador Carvalho Pinto (1959-1963), onde os torradores eram montados em peruas – Kombi – da Secretaria, que percorriam as fazendas fazendo provas de café pelo interior paulista. Era preciso fazer uma adaptação na Kombi, onde um sistema na polia do motor fazia funcionar o equipamento. Dentro do carro havia uma mesa de granito giratória onde eram colocadas as cumbucas para o teste e também um tacho de aço inox para o descarte do líquido após a prova. Segundo consta, dessa prova saía um documento indicando a qualidade do café e com isso o produtor podia ir ao Banco do Brasil pedir financiamento para sua plantação. A prova era um dos pontos positivos no momento de conceder o crédito. Os anúncios nos jornais afirmavam que os torradores eram “aprovados pela Secretaria da Agricultura de São Paulo e pelo Instituto Brasileiro do Café (IBC)”.

There is no record of the exact date on which the company began manufacturing the roasters, but the family of the founders of Rod-Bel and the oldest and retired employees, ensure that the product idea was Michelangelo Bellotti’s - Italian and one of founders of the company - and that, as they tell us, he even liked the roasters more than the leading products of the company although, personally, he had no connection with agriculture or the field.
