ENEMY . . . Cowell
Si: Chez missing me now
SIMON COWELL has told how he and Cheryl Cole have made up — and says the singer secretly MISSES him. The media mogul — who sacked Cheryl as a judge from the US version of The X Factor last year — said the Girls Aloud star now understood how tough the entertainment business was. He said: “She is a grown-up and she understands that in this business when something happens it happens publicly. “That wasn’t a great week for me. When I came back last year I was public enemy No1 and I wouldn’t want to go through that again.” Cowell said he last spoke to Cheryl in November, although she put a jokey message on Twitter about how old he was on his birthday. He said: “That was the ice-breaker and we did speak afterwards.” And he added: “She could be a panellist again if she wanted to — 100 per cent. “I don’t know if she would. I think she probably misses me.”
Ker-mot O’Leary HOST Dermot O’Leary will be replaced by Kermit The Frog during tonight’s National Television Awards bash. Dermot will leave the stage when the category he is nominated in — best entertainment presenter — is announced. Then Kermit will appear dressed in a tuxedo just like him. An insider said: “Organisers have been hunting for a suitable replacement and have finally managed it. “Crew members are laughing about whether the audience will notice because Kermit will mimic him closely!” Dermot goes up against Ant and Dec, Keith Lemon and Michael McIntyre on the ITV1 show tonight.
ANT & DEC SING WITH BRUCE By COLIN ROBERTSON
ANT and Dec are getting Ready To Rhumble at tonight’s National TV Awards – by dusting off their singing skills.
The Geordie duo — who had a shortlived career as singers PJ and Duncan — have been in secret talks with producers about resurrecting their famous double act. And it’s rumoured the pair will be singing with TV legend Sir Bruce Forsyth, who is already lined up to perform. The Strictly Come Dancing host, below, is flying in from his winter home on the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico to sing Nat King Cole’s Let There Be Love at the top of the show. A source said: “Brucie has agreed to perform a song from his new album as he said he’s always wanted to play the O2. He’ll be joined by two very special faces from the TV industry that most people should know. If I were a telly fan, I’d be sure to tune in.” Ant and Dec spent a few years churning out pop hits under the aliases of their character names in kids’ show Byker Grove. They scored a No9 hit with Let’s Get Ready
POP PAST . . . Ant and Dec To Rhumble in 1994, but most of their follow-up singles failed to match their initial success. Their last track was 2002 World Cup song We’re On The Ball, which reached No3. Ant and Dec are up for an award for Best Entertainment Presenter. And if they win, it’ll be the ELEVENTH year in a row they’ve bagged the gong. One of the shows they host, Britain’s Got Talent, is also up for the Best Talent Show prize. Tonight’s NTAs will be packed with performances from stars including X Factor winners Little Mix as well as the Military Wives. The theme for the show is “love” and there will also be various Scottish elements, such as a bagpiper, as a nod to the fact it is Burns Night.
THE LEGS FACTOR BRITAIN’S Got Talent judge Alesha Dixon has proved she’s a winner in the style stakes. She showed off her perfect pins in coral heels and a tiny pink skirt at auditions for the show in Blackpool yesterday. The singer, who was poached from Strictly Come Dancing by
head judge Simon Cowell, accessorised with a tuxedo-style jacket and white shirt. BBC bosses were stunned when Alesha was nabbed but she claims she was already planning to quit Strictly. She said: “It was time for new things. I don’t want to be boxed in.”
