This problem area is now being addressed by the Danish company CLIIN, who has designed a cleaning robot for this very purpose. CLIIN was founded in 2016 with the specific aim to use robots for cleaning within the maritime industry. To succeed the management team was comprised of engineers, technicians and personal with hands on experience from the marine sector.

It proved efficient, through a trial and error period where the company worked closely with experts from J. Lauritzen, they were able to have a patented product ready for sale at the end of 2018. The technique and the ideas are so new, that CLIIN has obtained more than 30 new patents.
