01 MORTON STREET

SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENCE

Built in 1853, this five-story, seven-unit multi-family building will be converted into a modern single-family residence. The front faรงade will be repainted to match the original brick, windows on the front and rear faรงade will be replaced, and the interior will be gutted to allow for new interior partitions within the existing framework. The rear of the cellar level will be excavated to create space for a gym, while the rear elevation that spans from the basement to

the third floor will be removed and replaced with a transitional contemporary-style exterior with masonry, glass, and window units. The fourth-story deck parapet at the rear faรงade will be rebuilt to prevent further water infiltration. Lastly, a new fence and landscaping will be designed for the rear yard.

02 SMALL LOTS

HOUSING COMPETITION

Team competition. Small-scale urban infill housing. Design of affordable housing on underutilized City-owned land. We propose a design for the ‘Subject Site’ and demonstrated how such design can be adapted to a variety of site typologies. Here is a sample of the project showing what we developed on the subject site in Harlem. Replicability for all typologies is based on a concept: the living wall (core/gas/electricity/plumbing/related spaces).

To keep construction fast and to create a sustainable and energy efficient building, we propose pre-fabricated panels such as SIP for the walls and floors. By pairing structural and insulating materials with a material (plywood) that can be exposed on the interior, we are also aiming for a cost-efficient method to eliminate time consuming techniques and expensive and extensive labor.

05 MALL RECONVERSION INTO MIXED-USE DEVELOPMENT

Based on the observation that in the US hundreds of malls and thousands of mall-based stores have shuttered in the past two decades, and many more may close within the next 10 years, we have conducted a ‘malls study’, and selected an hypothetical site to think about mall redevelopment. The proposal is a mixed-use project, with a shared economy model. Re-use of shopping mall by combining all

services. Development of an eco-friendly project. Shared use of equipment & space. Local production (roof farm) & distribution. Car-share use: automated parking & autonomous electrical vehicles use. Repurpose interior retail: co-work spaces, recreational spaces, Food Court. The Residential units: for temporary & permanent use.

SUSTAINABLE LIVING

Hudson Highlands Reserve (HHR) is a proposed 25 residential unit conservation subdivision inspired by the concepts of sustainable living, which include utilizing green construction and ecological strategies to develop energy efficient homes which respect the surrounding natural environment. As part of the Lower Hudson Valley region, history and heri-

tage are important aspects of the community. Thus, homes will feature local use of material and aesthetics which are common within Putnam County and Lower Hudson Valley region, however, will also reflect characteristics of modern living.

07 SAINT URBAIN

EXTENSION TO AN EXISTING HOUSE

-Saint Urbain, 10 km from the Atlantic Ocean, France. Architecture / Interior design / garden design. The project foresees a contemporary construction in addition to the traditional existing building and enlarges its floor-space by adding one floor to the building.

The project brings solutions to achieve the most sustainable, resilient, and energy-efficient building possible for this specific location.

Ground floor Cafeteria / showroom / reception

The project remodels an existing East London building for a printing and graphic design compagny. An architectural journey is created through stacked boxes, where people go up or down stairs, meet or enjoy the view. In the atrium are the main connections between the three

floors of the building. It connects the ground floor (with the representative area, showroom, cafeteria an a reception), first floor (with the print factory), and second floor (where the offices and meeting rooms are).

09 TRAVELLING ARCHITECTURES FOR MOBILITY IN RURAL AREAS

Different villages between two big attractive cities in the west of France. In this former agricultural area you cannot do anything without a car: the car made the urban sprawl possible, far from the former village center, but what people save on housing they spend it on gasoline.

The idea is to build different architectures from the smallest to the biggest to support the redevelopment of various mobility offers, to develop alternative mobilities and make possible a sustainable rural-urban development.

LARGE SCALE

A multi-service place bringing new programs missing in the village. The idea was not to build a huge multimodal architecture but a rural train station compatible with the size of the village and the surroundings constructions.

10 NISSIM DE CAMONDO MUSEUM

Program: reception, boutique and cloakrooms. When you visit this mansion house, you are immersed in the nineteenth century. The project takes place in the former covered descent where the driver used to leave passengers. The visitor goes through a journey which reminds the functioning of the place in the nineteen-

th century. The visitor first goes into a structure which reminds the coach: leather trim with nineteenth century pattern. Furniture is inspired by travel trunk. Cloakroom and group area take place in the former stable. The project highlights traces of history and also includes a touch of contemporary through light, materials and colour.

The project takes place in Venice. It has frontage both on the Canal and on the Giudecca. Program : A new campus for the IUAV university ( workshop, auditorium , classroom, administrative offices). Some programs are as well for the students as for the neighbourhood residents (bar, grocery store, library, exhibition space

and other cultural events). The design is based on Venice specific urban fabric: six differents buildings several ‘‘Calle Stretta’’ (narrow street) and a ‘‘corte’’(courtyards).
