Cover letter – Arch. Marina Macera
I am Marina Macera, an Italian architect. I have recently taken my PhD in Architecture - Theory and Project at the University of Rome, Sapienza, (13 December 2013) with a thesis entitled: The edge design of the contemporary city. Figures, declinations, scenarios. I would be keen to continue my training as an architect in an architectural firm so as to transfer my theoretical knowledge to professional practice. I enclose a copy of my curriculum vitae and examples of works (international workshops, architectural competitions, professional practice) for your consideration. Workshops and competitions were excellent experience of working in team, where I had the satisfaction of seeing appreciated my personal way of working and of seeing award-winning the results. I have learned how important it is to be flexible and communicate in multicultural situations. I would welcome the opportunity to utilise the knowledge and experience I have gained from my studies and through my responsibilities for university research and educational programmes (research component, assistant professor; organization of work, presentation of material for exhibitions and events). Moreover, my little work experience over the past four years has increased my knowledge and helped me to develop a greater ability to manage the various stages of professional practice of small and medium-sized projects. During the last four years at university I have planned and managed my time to achieve a good balance between my research, work and other interests linked to architectural world like professional courses, architectural meeting, seminars. In addition, my extensive traveling experiences have offered me opportunities to adapt to new environments, to deepen knowledge of other architectural culture and to improve my English. I have been studying English yet and I did my Toefl exam in December with a score of 87. I am available for work at any time because at the moment I haven’t a job and I don’ t have a specific salary requirement, just to support myself.
