Mililani Community Report Dear Friends and Neighbors, The Legislature adjourned Sine Die (without days) on May 5. After a hardworking session, Legislators look forward to participating in the many activities that take place at our local schools during the month of May. From the dedication of a new sculpture at Mililani Ike to the Mililani High School graduation, it is a pleasure to be able to participate in the life of the community. Senator Kidani and I were honored to participate as MCs for the Mililani Band Spring concert. The music presented this year by the instrumental and choral groups was truly outstanding, and our band teachers deserve much credit. On May 19, the Friends of Mililani Public Library will sponsor another book sale at the Library from 9am until 3pm. All the proceeds from the sale go directly back to the library. Legislation passed this session HB-1054 HD1 SD1 CD1 will clarify the relationship between the Big Friends of the Library, Affiliates and independent libraries. Our Legislative session produced many good bills and a balanced budget, which was possible because of the positive revenue projections during this quarter. Thank you for the many calls, letters emails and personal testimony we received. Your participation in the process is much appreciated.

Central Theatre Arts Academy at Mililani High School presented a spirited production of Bye Bye Birdie at the School. I was fortunate to view the performance. Lots of talent here!
Marilyn Lee, Representative District 38
A big crowd of parents, grandparents and community members were on hand to hear and see the vocal performances of Mililani Waena students. Each grade had creative and entertaining selections.

CENTER FOR NURSING FUNDING MADE PERMANENT
The Hawaii State Center for Nursing (HSCFN) was established in 2003 to assure the State of Hawaii has the nursing resources to meet the health care needs of Hawaii’s people in the future. The Center for Nursing was created with a sunset date, however, this session, the Legislature made the funding mechanism permanent to allow the Center to continue its excellent work. Representative Lee introduced HB 2023, which Governor Abercrombie signed into law as ACT 053 --assuring the continued deposit of monies into the Center for Nursing Special Fund.
Kathleen Yokouchi HSCFN regulatory & legislative analyst, and outgoing Executive Director, Gail Tiwanak stopped by to discuss the work of the center.
KUKUI CONNECTION In recognition of Sex Abuse Prevention Month in April, Representative Lee interviewed Ms. Adriana Ramelli, Executive Director of the Sex Abuse Treatment Center of Hawaii.
