Abstract |

The following paper proposes a study about theatrical and cinematic adaptations of the play Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, with a established goal of analyzing how the themes of Realism and Unrealism are translated from the original play to the chosen stagings. In order to achieve that, a study will be made about the evolution and history of Production Design and Scenography in terms of theater and cinema, pointing out its differences and similarities about each approach of the space, the projectual conception and the final results in comparison with Architecture, as well as the importance of each discipline. Furthermore, an analysis will be made about the Mannerist context of Hamlet, what are it’s influences the themes of the play and how those topics were able to be translated to the stagings in terms of light, colors, setting, costumes, among others.
