Spicy Shrimp Lemon Curry Spicy Shrimp Lemon Curry (also known as Prawn Curry) is a delicious dish cooked using shrimp with added spices, black pepper and lemon. This is a common alternate to other Shrimp or Prawn dishes. And is perfect with basmati rice in lunch. Since shrimp itself is tasty, this is a real treat for all shrimp lovers. The addition of lemon and black pepper gives this recipe a unique taste. Here's the step by step guide to making of the Spicy Shrimp Lemon Curry Recipe Ingredients • 200g shrimp (Jumbo shrimps are better) • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder • 1.5 teaspoon coriander powder • 1 teaspoon red chili powder • salt to taste • 1.5 teaspoon ginger paste • 2 teaspoon garlic paste • 1 tomato finely chopped (remove seeds) • 2 medium onion finely chopped • 1 potato • 4 teaspoon mustard oil • 1 tablespoon curd • 0.5 teaspoon garam masala powder (spice) • 1/4 teaspoon ghee • 1 tablespoon lemon juice • Chopped coriander leaves for garnishing • 1 teaspoon black pepper powder Preparation Time: 20 min Cooking Time: 40 min Serves: 3-4 How to prepare Spicy Shrimp Lemon Curry 1. Wash the shrimps thoroughly and marinade with a pinch of turmeric, a pinch of chili powder, a pinch of salt, 1 tablespoon lemon juice and 1 teaspoon black pepper for about an hour. 2. Add mustard oil in a deep non-stick frying pan and hit for 2mins, then fry the shrimps till it turns deep pink/red in color. Do not over fry it. Keep aside. 3. In the same oil, fry the small cut potatoes (you use the juice that is left after marinading the shrimp in step 1 before frying). Keep aside. 4. Now in the same oil (if you think the oil is too less for further frying, you can add more), add finely chopped onions and fry till the onions have become tender. 5. Mix turmeric powder, coriander powder, chili powder, ginger paste, garlic paste and salt in water. Mix well. Add this mixture to the fried onion and continue frying till the oil starts coming out of spices


and the pungent odor is gone. You can add small amounts of water if the spices are getting too dry. 6. Add finely chopped tomato (seeds removed) with beaten yogurt/curd. Add a small quantity of water and add the fried shrimp and potato. Stir well. Cover and leave to boil for 10-15mins, stirring occasionally. 7. The gravy is intended to be thick so add water accordingly. 8. Sprinkle the garam masala powder and add the ghee and stir for 5mins or till desired consistency of the gravy is reached. Spicy Shrimp Lemon Curry is ready to serve for lunch with basmati rice or with paratha. Garnish with chopped coriander.
