ARTISTIC STATEMENT

Iridescenceisanopticalphenomenon generatedwhenlightfallsonasurface andtransitsthroughit.Itcreatesa constructiveinterferenceeffectin whichthereflectedlightwaves coincideatthesamepointadding theireffects.Asaresult,adynamic chromaticspectrumisformed, variatingaccordingtotheanglefrom whichitisobserved.

Thisconceptofconstructive interferenceexemplifieshowI conceiveIndustrialDesignasa disciplinesinceitinvolvesthe explorationofmultiplefieldsof knowledgeandcreation opportunities,whichconvergeina systemofdynamicmeaningsof diverseoriginsthatunifyand complementeachother.

Thatiswhy,Maridiscenteaimstoexalt thenarrativeandexpressiveness purposeofdesign,whichgoes beyondaparticularfunctionorneed andfocusesontheconstructionof newexperiencesinusers.Thisway, variousemotions,concerns,andnew

meaningsaregeneratedtowardstheir environmentandinteractions.Itisa brandthatexploresartistic manifestationsbasedonartdirection, brandexperience,conceptualdesign, interiorspacedesign,andproduct creativeapproach.

Itseekstodevelopeachprojectfrom aninterdisciplinaryvisionthat considersdesignasanartthathasthe powertoimproveandredefineusers' waysofliving.Variouselementsand ideasareusedfromdifferentsources tobetransmittedfrommaterialityto emotionalintangibility.Theobjective isfortheuserstoapproachtheir environmentsensitively,experiencing andunderstandingitthrougha coherentnarrativeandconceptualaestheticlanguage.

Maridiscenteisabrandthatpursues theexplorationofnewplasticand narrativeperformancesandenriches itselfthroughouttheindividual, collective,orcollaborativecreative processes.

Concept

Artdirectionfortheshortfictionfilm''El Encargo'',directedbyDanielMedina.

Thisprojectisaproposalfordecoration, costumes,andpropsinwhichtheeveryday spacesofaColombianupper-classfamily houseareexteriorized.Inthisproject,the decorationdesignprioritizedthe interactionwitheachcharacterindetail shots,withalittlepredominanceofgeneral planes.

Furthermore,setswerebuiltinaway inwhichthescenarioitself transmittedemptiness,emotion, mystery,andconfusionaspartofthe framestocreateandenhancethe expressionoftheactorsandtheir dialoguesduringeachscene.

Asforthelastpart,thegoalwasto createstaticsetsalignedwiththe feelingofthecharactersintheirdaily andoverwhelmingday-to-dayroutine. Thisartproposalintegratesthe lightingandphotography departmentstocomplementthe atmosphereofthescenesasawhole.

Thisconceptreferstothedichotomy presentinthemaincharacter'shands actions.Inthese,thereisan unbalancedperformancethatis amplifiedbyhispsychological dilemmasandhisday-to-day dynamicsandinteractions.

"SensorialDuality"isaconstant withintheeverydaysituationsofthe character,whoisapproachingthe complexityofhisthoughts,his questioning,andhisinternal dialoguesabouthislifereality.These last,areopposite,theyoverlapand turnintotediousnessanddiscomfort.

Itisavisionthatreferstothe awakeningofconsciousnessthrough thesenses,especiallyoftheexistence andtheexperienceoflifethroughthe opposingactionsofthehands.

This art proposal emphasizes the story of the three main characters presented above.

Within this storyline, each of them establishes a section of narrative and conceptual analysis, carried out from a profile construction process, developed in three stages that

gathered,andconfigurethetotalityof thecharacteratapsychological, emotional,andsociallevel.Inthis case,thisanalysisisexplainedby deconstructingJuan'scharacter dimensions.

Tosumup,alloftheseelementsare theresultofthescriptanalysisand

the author's interpretation of art direction. In other words, all of the above turns into the final aesthetic elements of scenery, decoration, props, and costumes.

The decoration proposal involves all the elements that configurate every set.

The static, frequent and ocassional elements of all scenes are included in a budget and breakdown plan.

Concept

Thisprojectisaconceptualproposal ofscenographicdesignforthe theatricalscript"Anatomíadel Desastre"byDanielMedina. Itisanambitiousaesthetic explorationunderthegenreof ExperimentalComedy,thataimsto materializetheemotionalevolutionof thecharactersthroughoutthestory withtheirconstantdynamicsand thoughts.Itisaproposalthat anatomicallydeconstructsthe physicalspaceandtransformsitfrom modulesandsymbolicelementsthat alludetoeachoftheemotionsand fragmentsofthescriptitself.

"AnatomíadelDesastrediscusses, touches,embellishes,and deconstructscontemporarywomen, ineightvoices.Forthisproject,each sceneincludesthemessuchas femininity,power,pleasure,abuse, andchange.Inthisscenario,the actressesenterandleavethe possibilitiesthatcurrenteventsand historyhaveofferedthem,toquestion theirstabilityandtheirenvironment.

Themetaphysicaluniverseofthis workpresentsaconstant fragmentation.Becauseofthat,the actressesdonothavespecific charactersastheyfollowthefreeroles thateachframedescribes.Withthat, thescenographicdesign,is

complementedbysinging, movement,comedy,andrigorous workonthecompositionofeach picture.

Finally,thestoryfollowseight actressesthathavearrivedinalimbo thatseemstobetheirtimeofdeath. Atthatmoment,theyobservedthe past,imagineanewlife,andmany otherpathsastowhattheirlives wouldhavelookedlikewithother decisionsandopportunities.Withall that,thechaosofthestoriesaimsto haveafinalorder:tostartover."

Becauseofthis,thespaceis configuratedwithfourdifferenttypes offurniture.Theseprovidedynamism

and allow accessibility and visibility of the titles from the entrance to the place.

This system corresponds to a wall of books, an exhibition island for spine format book storage, floating shelves on the wall, and a piece of furniture with a shelf for book cover exhibition.

The user experience is complemented by a gallery display system for artistic pieces in printed formats.

Also, a reception cabinet designed for bookbinding and editorial production activities is proposed.

This design takes some of the elements of Bogotá's pop culture and resignifies them through interaction and storytelling. The final goal of this project was to explore and interact within the narrative potential of some objects under the concept of "speaking objects" and how everyday elements can mediate didactic and pedagogical interactions using sound as their primary resource.
