MASTERPLAN + APPEARANCE + FLATS I was one of the architects in a team designing this 245 unit development. I participated in the appearance and character zone styles, adapting types, designing internal layouts for flats and modeling the site.

This masterplan comprises 245 units organised around two premises. One of them is setting up an urban spine that serves the site and connects it with the existing and future developments. The other premise is creating a dialog with the existing surroundings and maintaining this connection with nature within the development.

The site has been designed following a transition between the urban and rural zones within the area. The external features of the dwellings configure the character zones, together with the density. I designed a gradient from urban to rural style using diverse elements that configure the character of each zone.

I participated in designing internal layouts of the seven blocks of flats, adapting the flat types to each location and situation. Their layouts are designed following the UK standards, including wheelchair user dwellings, and the Lifetime Homes standards, as it is shown.

MASTERPLAN + MAISONETTES I was part of a team designing a Masterplan which contains 33 units. Part of my work was designing the 3 pairs of maisonettes marked in the drawings above, including their internal layout and appearance. I modeled the maisonettes in Revit and also the site, which I used to illustrate the project with the views shown.

PARKING AREAS TO RESIDENTIAL Accommodation: NOTES

Conversion of under-used garages and parking areas into small residential developments. Various projects. I was the main architect for these group of projects, joining some of them in the beginning. I participated in the design of the site layout and internal layouts, the elevations and external appearance and the design and access statement. All of those with a minimal supervision but, alongside other colleagues and managers.

Site analysis

Outdoors space for every dwelling providing self-standing balconies without compromising the existing structure. Ground floor treatment offering a more open space that lets the entrance to breathe while gives the safe and covered access. Remove the refuse towers that had an important impact on the appearance of the elevation. In its place, the staircase gets the possibility of getting more open, changing the character of the front elevation. The material appearance is consistent within the whole area, using two different colours of brick contrasting with tile hanging. Those tiles are replaced in order to give a new character to the buildings that enhance the material consistency.

A catalogue was made containing a wide range of materials regarding different budgets and grades from a range that goes from traditional and contemporary.

SINGAPORE TRAIN STATIONS I worked for Enspire Solutions over 18 months as an assistant architect. During this time, my main task was working on a project for the Singapore Government which looked to protect the structure of some of the main train stations of the capital. For this purpose, I analysed a great amount of planning, structural and working drawings and we provided with several solutions. I was in charge of drawing the specific solutions for each station.

Analysis stage In this early stage, I analysed the risk of damage of each station and we proposed several solutions and their difficulty. I was involved in all the analysing, drawing, modelling and data production and graphic works.

Data analysis and construction design stage. During the second stage I analysed all the possible solutions. I also looked for patterns between the stations to simplify our work and discussed the practicality of the different solutions. After that, during the third stage, I designed related solutions for each station, providing relevant working drawings.

The main aim of this project was to design facilities required for the network. This would help their development to provide for the city and, specifically, this area with a community centre that focused on ecology, wellness, organic lifestyle and consumption.

The existing building is formed by five naves with gabled roofing measuring 10 metres wide and 20 metres deep. Its structure is composed by steel columns and trusses aligned with the faรงade and arranged every 3.9 metres. Currently, its structure is covered by a masonry brick wall with no architectural interest. I decided to start with the spatial concept of the structure by removing the walls and using this space as the first step in the design process. I started with;

Spatial perception Industrial aesthetic Highlight the structure

Curent drawings

Climate conditions Seville has warm and dry weather most of the year, and is hotter during the summer. Those climate conditions gave me the opportunity to have an ambivalent inside/outside in the way that people use the building. It was important to analyse the incidence of sunlight and hot wind exposure to give specific answers for its challenges.

Section analysis and comfortable space Another premise was finding convenient spatiality for each use. In order to solve this challenge I analysed the section of the naves to accommodate each function in a comfortable height and space. It depends on the quantity of people and what activity they will perform inside.

NAVIGATING ON THE ART Exibition room over Guadalquivir river. Team: Natalia Gallardo, Jesus Ramirez, Francisco Sanchez.

The project has its origin in the idea of creating a cultural meeting place which comes closer to the urban landcape. Something like a multifunctional space able to accommodate diferent kinds of arts and performances. We were propounding several locations that would be atractive for this purpose. All of them were close to the river, which is the backbone of the city. Therefore, we thought that it would be interesting to sew all those appealing locations around the city with our building. Thereby, it also would give a new perspective of the city from inside the river. We designed then a floating building, self-sufficient, which would be moving around the city and stopping in the most interesting locations. In this way, we combine a cultural experience inside the buiding with a backgroung and a experience visiting the city from the river.
