LOCK WALL DESK

Starting from the analysis of what a desk is, both in a historic and commercial point of view, the desk results traditionally a furniture element which should represent a personal and private space. Lock combines these requirements with reclosability and resealability features. Lock is a wall desk consisting in two parts; an external box fastened to the wall, containing a drawer which can be extracted laterally in order to extend the working area: designed in two versions, one comprehending both components manufactured in oak and a second one with an outer steel satin white box and an internal wooden drawer. The lock-shaped side hole, allows to open and close the drawer, and it can also serves as a fairleads. Lock can be used both open or close: open it offers a double working plane and once closed works as a support surface, hiding your personal objects.

The internal drawer comprehends on the back wall a little slot in order to not loose small objects like markers or USB flash drive.

The hole-shaped lock underlines the idea of secret, hidden and private. It allows the electronic devices cables to pass through and acts also as grip to open the drawer obtaining a new working area.

WATCH INTERACTIVE LAMP

Watch recreates the Johannes Itten’s theory of the simultaneous contrast using LED tecnology. The Itten’s theory is here mentioned as a representation of the Maya veil, meaning the false reality that we live and see everyday, the representation of what we build in our minds, thus in our eyes, as human being. The frontal surface is enlightened by a homogenic cycle of four Led colours, which change alternated by a white phase. During these red, green, blue and yellow phases, some centrals circulating lights will captures user’s eyes attention until the coming of the white light. During the white phase you will see the complementary color of the previous light. The square shape is necessary because, being a regular geometric shape, it doesn’t influence the human perception of the light vision. The lamp is programmed by Arduino software: an Arduino driver is fixed inside the lamp and coordinates LED lights and the sensor. The lights’ sequence can be blocked by touching the metal plate on the bottom side of the lamp in order to maintain in the space the desired light colour.

MATE INTERACTIVE LAMP

Mate is a smart home thermostat, created for shared apartments, composed by a central thermostat and several small devices able of measuring temperature, to place in different rooms. The central thermostat is directly connected to the boiler and it manages all the house temperatures. It comprehends a smartphone app to control the system anytime. Mate is a system designed to allow each flatmate to independently and easily manage the climate inside the rooms accessing to their own data about temperature and involved energy during time, in order to optimize energy consumption.

The house-like shape, resembling an arrow, is designed to suggest to the user the switch position of the device: to switch on the central thermostat the user has to rotate it 180° clockwise in order to make it point upward, and repeat the action to the contrary to switch it off. Leaving the device unused it will enter in standby mode.

The small devices work as remote sensors: installed in different areas of the house, they communicate with the central thermostat in order to send informations about rooms’ temperatures. They can be switched using an on/off button, in order to permit functioning also if the central thermostat is turned off, detecting ambients’ temperature during all seasons.

TOMODO SMART KITCHEN SCALE

Tomodo is a double-faced kitchen scale designed to help avoiding the waist of food. By simply turning the product, the user can change the function state: an inclinometer will detect the orientation change and the product will pass from scale mode to timer mode. The expiring timer side is divided by different concentric rings, corresponding to different time intervals: the notches on the surface, represent each one a day time period. The product components are manufactured through injection molding, in Polypropylene and Polycarbonate material: it also comprehends an external cover in silicone. On the inner surface of kitchen scale side are fixed white led lights, to display the measured weight during functioning. The internal mechanism is composed by a servo motor for each ring, which moves a rotating gear linked to the ring. The motors are fixed on the inner support plane and connected to a central programmed driver.

EXPIRING TIMER


Electrochromic inks are inserted on the rings’ material and activated by internal electric contacts, in order to create different feedbacks based on color changes. Each color will be an intuitive reminder to the user about the recorded foods’ expiring date. Green the ring is set and the registered food is still fresh. Orange the registered food is going to expire in one day. Red the registered food expire on the same day.

User can sets the kind of food and expiry day for each ring through vocal recognition, by clicking on the starting point of the ring and turning clockwise, according to the expiring day sign.

VR Interaction for Stroke Motor Rehab VR ENVIRONMENTS & INTERACTION

The interaction is focused on combining hand tracking and motor exercises in a virtual reality environment builted with Unity 3d software, through Oculus Rift technology and mounted Leap Motion control. The aim is to help stroke patients to have a better effective rehab experience, associating the senses of sight and olfaction to physical exercise. The interaction is based on the association of three horizontal movements of the arm of the patient in sitting position, with three specific scents: chocolate, citrus and rose. Each scent corresponds to an interactive VR scene. The patient will drag and process the items placed in the scene just by sliding the hand: at each step, he will perceive sound feedbacks while at the end of the path, he will smells the flavour of the process result.

INTERACTION SCHEME The whole system is controlled by Arduino Uno driver. Each scene has a servo script which according to the involved flavour has a different servo angle value, activating each particular fragrance.

The scene takes place in a home kitchen: the path starts from the cocoa seeds, on the left side of the working plane. The patient, will drag the seeds to the right towards the small grinder, and obtain the cocoa powder. After moving the cocoa to the small pot he will heat the powder. Dragging the pot to the right he will finally see the hot chocolate inside the cup and smell the chocolate flavour.

Located in a home garden, the exercise starts from taking the glass vase on the right stool. Drag the vase on the central wood support and put the water in the vase by moving the left watering can toward it: it will appear a red rose which must be moved to the vase to watch the short petals animation, and smell the rose frangrance.

In a small yard, an orange tree on the left is showing a shiny orange. By dragging the orange to the right, it will drop into the oranges’s box: then passing by the knife the orange will be split in a half. The slice moved after, through the squeezer will create the orange juice.

Cross Design Contest 2017 INTERIOR DESIGN PROPOSAL

Each year the italian Caesar Ceramics Company announces the Cross Design Contest: in 2017 the competition was focused on the redesign of their showroom. The proposed concept born from the idea of craftsmanship as art of manipulating matter, considered as a media of beauty in all its possible essences. The set-up therefore plays with the contrasts of matter in its various shapes and colors, an imperfect harmony that highlights the contrasting characters, among claddings and furniture. The distinctive value given by the aesthetic and tactile characteristics of the different upholsteries, is emphasized and enhanced by the contrast created by their own combination.

MET Golden Eyes Helmet HELMET’S COVERING GRAPHIC PROPOSALS MET Company

The covering proposals are shaped for the Golden Eyes HES Helmet model, of the italian company MET. The brief aimed at creating new graphic coverings for choosen MET products, based on the company brand identity. Golden Eyes is a polycarbonate helmet designed for mountain bike riders, currently single product brand Bluegrass, MET products brand regarding products called ‘open face’ (helmets without chin guard) for specific use for MTB. The proposals focuses on three variations of alternating colors and include the corporate brand.
