EDISON’S WINDMILL


We decided to apply the gear assembly mechanic principle in the construction of a windmill.

How gears work? A gear is a kind of wheel which is serrated

The gear let to the machine to produce movement

In the movement that each gear do we can observe how each tooth is engaging and another disengaging

Also the size of each gear would affect the speed between the input and output. The first one is the one with the movement and the second one is the one that “drives” it.

Does the size affects?

The bigger the gear

The smaller the gear

the slower the system’s speed would be

the faster the system would move

HOW IT ENDED LOOKING UP

Our robot was made with LEGO pieces. It was conformed for five gears (four in vertical and one in horizontal) that were hold by nine large pieces and three sticks. This was made with the purpose of function as a windmill. EDISON was programmed with a simple sequence were it just have to do a SINGLE DRIVE for 60 second, and then, it will stop.
