There’s a tradition, at least since the tumultuous 1960s and 1970s, of artists showing work in unusual places and spaces, even opening up their homes to show their own work as well as others. Today, this tradition has expanded to include multiple possibilities, including the garage, living rooms and backyards.
In this paper I present several national and international examples of 'home-based' or domestic artist’s projects and I explore why I think these sorts of projects matter.
