When I was eight years old, my mother decided to have her dream house built. Being fascinated by the blueprints, I asked her who was the person that was helping her achieve her dream, and she responded with the answer that would later become my dream career. Since then, I found myself sketching floorplans of all the places I could envirsion off. This vision of helping others achieve their dreams soon became my driven passion. I believe that architecture is a powerful tool to transmit emotion and helping others through that. My value statement is finding significance in simple experiences and enhancing them by using natural qualities to provide human wellness.

Tij functions as a kayak and ecological learning center. The location of the site was on the historical Middleton Place in Charleston, South Carolina. Programming of the site and facility displays how natural systems and architecture can be established to integrate and amplify the ecology of the place. The project design or “process” ran through two phases; how analysis and synthesis about site and environment establish the notion of what is “a sense of place”. The composition will varies from the humanmade, such as architecture, to natural phenomenon. This design is a regenerative system that uses architecture as a catalyst to establish a “sense of place”; tectonically, ecologically and participate in its everyday life through democratic means.

Tides are periodic oscillations in the level of the sea which come about as a result of the attraction of the sun and the Moon on the loquid particles of oceans. According to the law of universal gravitation (Isaac Newton), the force of attraction between these two celestial bodies is proportional to the mass of the celestial body and inversely proportional to the square of the distance that separates them.

EXPERIENTIAL DIORAMAS

This particular project allowed me to recognize what I value about architecture and the “why of most of my overall immediate design decisions. My value statement and what I stand for is: Finding significance in simple experiences and enhacing them by using natural qualities to provide human wellness.

Komorebi is a Japanese word that refers to the sunlight that filters through the leaves of trees. Throughout time, it is evident that people tend to gather under trees. There is a sense comfort and peacefulness about meeting under them. Komorebi Library is a place where people find their sense of comfort in a grove of constructed trees as they read and coexist. The roof of the structure acts as a physical filter of light like a canopy of trees. The focus also relies on creating an growing inviting place, emphasizing the experience from the interior.

Visual experiences like social experiences are complex. The normal reaction to complexity is a process of reduction to operation necessities. Analysis involves the separation of complex phenomena into components, which can be understood. Light, shade and shadow, color, texture, form/space, and perspective as well as the interaction of components are explored in this project.

A R T Since a very young age, painting has been my outlet of expression. Art is everywhere but it is also a way for us to escape reality. By forcing us to take a step back from our physical lives, art goes hand-in-hand with understanding the balance between work and play and gives us an awareness of existence. In order to have a purpose and positively contribute to our community, we must continue to create influential output. Many of these paintings have been commissions.
