3D ar tist projects

3D visualization for a thesis degree

DEGREE THESIS for Ar. Bustos & Ar. Baicochea Abogauch This group of students contacted me at the final stage of their degree thesis project to finalize the general design and develop the 3D visualization. The Project is located next to “Misericordia Hospital and consists of a block of rooms destined to house family members of patients being treated in the Hospital; as well as a restaurant belonging to the same institution. My design tasks consisted on the proposal of the restaurant and the landscaping, as well as the modeling, rendering and the post-production of the images.

3D personal practice project

mentoring for an architecture student tasks: -structural and technical proposal -autoCAD drawings and Photoshop post-production

selection of academic projects

experimentum: degree thesis tasks: -general design (with team) -free hand drawings and conceptual graphics -technical plans (floor plans- elevations- facades) and post production in Photoshop

EXPERIMENTUM The first questionings that came up when we started to define the thesis subject were: How do you learn architecture? What is the role of an architect in today’s society? How can we achieve a better education and learning? How can we manage to propose a transcendental project through an academic work, such as a Bachelor’s Degree thesis? These questionings lead us to re-think the idea of an architecture faculty-school not only from the building stand point, but also from the learning-pedagogical side. Re-thinking about the idea of an architecture school, led us to look into philosophical concepts, more specifically, to Aristotle and his premise of learning from experience. We took that concept and adapted it to the architecture field and to our architecture Faculty, to propose a series of “walking rooms” capable of moving, mutating, adapting, changing, settling into almost any space where it’s needed becoming the physical support allowing to learn from experience. By means of catalogue, we came up with different “walking rooms” typologies based on its function, location, physical space availability, etc. These “walking rooms” have their correlate in a fixed building, located in the Faculty or Architecture, Urbanism and Design in Córdoba, Argentina. This building is called “La Mater”, and even though it’s fixed in the terrain, it’s built with the same method as the “walking rooms”, with metal scaffolds and lights building envelopes built from recycled plastic bottles (PET); being able to move or disappear when it’s no longer needed

ex-battalion 141 :urbanization and eco-market tasks: -general design (with team) -bird’s-eye view -free hand drawings and conceptual graphics -technical plans (floor plans- elevations- facades) and post production in Photoshop

EX BATTALION 141: Urbanization and Eco-Market The Project developed consist of the proposal of a “masterplan” for the ex-battalion 141 in Córdoba, Argentina. The project proposes a gradient of land use, starting from the most public activities, placed next to Sarmiento Park, to end with the most private activities. The proposal includes a green folded surface that covers about ¾ of the terrain and starts to rise in a progressive way to meet two objectives: densify above the surface and to return to the city the green areas taken to materialize the project through the creation of a landscaped surface.

“la madriguera: urbanization & technical school tasks: -general design (with team) -technical plans (floor plans- elevations- facades) and post production in Photoshop

LA MADRIGUERA: Urbanization and Technical School The final Project carried out is a technical school, and a park with a very particular implantation on the terrain. The school is located in the historical Güemes neighborhood, in a block where there's already another school, on a terrain with a slope of more than 3 meters between the surrounding streets and with a free “block’s heart”. The general approach consists of using that free space, generating a folded surface that grows through the 4 sides of the block. This surface combines green areas with circulation roads, linking and providing the connectivity from and to the 4 sides of the block. This and the landscaping project complement each other, producing a bigger urban piece starting on the Palace of Justice (on the west side) and ending at Adolfo Saldías' School (on the east side). The park provides green areas, resting and recreational spaces, and viewpoints capitalizing the natural slope and also proposes an aqueduct's network linking the Madriguera School to finally end his path in the historical “cañada”.

EDUVIM: editing house-library tasks: -general design (with team) -perspective section -technical plans (floor plans- elevations- facades) and post production in Photoshop

EDUVIM: Editing House- Library

The project consist of the development of an Editing HouseLibrary for Eduvim, located at “the City of Arts”, in Córdoba. The program includes spaces for selling, reading, projections (films, art exhibitions) learning (how the editing process is) and recreational spaces. There's also a small theme bar.

Movement and space -central path, resting, reading and special showing รกreas -the floor rises up to multiplicate the space and generate different private รกreas.

ear th whale: reinforced concrete prototype tasks: -general design (with team) -free hand drawings and conceptual graphics -building the prototype (with team)

Earth Whale: Reinforced concrete prototype The aim of the exercise was to explore and investigate by designing from the molding of a liquid matter that mutates into a solid matter capable of acquiring almost any shape. We started experimenting with plaster samples, to end up building the shuttering and the reinforcement for the concrete model.

Stereotomic -two different entities define the architectural object -the perfect balance between two pieces to find stability -belongs to the eath -a mass that hollows to find its shape

workshop: minimum shelters tasks: -general design (with team) -technical plans ( elevations- facades) and post production in Photoshop

Workshop Minimum Shelters The aim of the Workshop is to re-think the livable spaces in the jungle landscape of Misiones Province in Argentina. We thought about the nature, the animals, the environment and overall about the local communities and their technologies. That’s how we came up with the “bicho canasto” (caterpillar cocoon), a light shelter built from ropes, and hay panels, a typical material used in the area. The structure rises through a pulleys system, making it easier to assemble. The “bicho canasto” is easy to carry around, it’s safe and comfortable; it isolates from the inclemency of the weather, insects and animals; becoming one more element of the vegetal environment.
