Foreword

On behalf of the Ministry of Tourism Malaysia, it gives me great pleasure to pen a few words in this special publication to promote the Experience Malaysia Homestay by Rail tour packages. Featuring 42 attractive all-inclusive homestay tour packages from 21 homestays licensed by the Ministry of Tourism, this brochure is aimed at encouraging potential tourists, both domestic and international, to spend their holidays in the country’s homestays. All these value for money tour packages offer interactive activities from all the participating homestays. Introduced in 1995, the homestay programme is a unique and authentic Malaysian experience that encompasses village or kampung lifestyle, culture, agriculture and cuisine. Visitors get to live with a local family in a village house and learn about close-knit family relationships, enjoy sumptuous home-cooked food and discover the simple lifestyle in the country. Every village has something unique to offer tourists. It will organise special activities for its guests such as jungle trekking, fishing, rubber tapping, fruit picking, and handicraft-making.

Thank you.
