Marco Giornale It’s Wine Dinner Time! Everyone’s favorite Marco tradition returns.

Everyone’s favorite special event is back at Marco. Our November 16 Wine Dinner will feature five elegant courses each paired with a complimentary wine. The evening begins with an anitpasto of blueberrywalnut goat cheese wrapped with prosciutto and paired with a Cusumano Insolia. Following this introduction are sautéed scallops with shaved black truffles, paired with a Crème de Lys Chardonnay. Next comes a beloved Italian grain, farro, prepared with artichoke and pancetta and paired with a Da Vinci Chianti. The main course of the evening is a Colorado rack of lamb served with cauliflower puree and sautéed swiss chard and a mint port wine reduction. This succulent meat is paired with a Capitel de Roari Amarone. As a perfect finale, dessert will be a chestnut spaghetti served with an Italian digestif, limoncello. This elegant dining experience is $70 per person plus tax and gratuity. Reservations can be made by calling the restaurant at 478-405-5660.

When life gives you lemons...

make Limoncello.

There is no denying that Italians know how to prepare delicious Italian food, but did you know that Italians have a secret for aiding in the digestion of their rich, savory food? After dinner drinks known as digestivos are historically known as palliatives, meant to counter all sorts of ailments and physical imbalances related to digestive discomfort. Though they are no longer sought after for medicinal value, they are still the perfect way to finish a meal.

Limoncello was traditionally served as a digestivo, a disgestive aid after a meal.

Limoncello, an Italian liqueur produced mainly in southern Italy, is one such digestivo. There is debate over the exact origin of the drink, but it is at least one hundred years old. Limoncello is made from lemon zest, grain alcohol, and simple syrup. Limoncello is the second most popular liqueur in Italy and is traditionally served chilled. Limoncello is often noted as having a strong lemon flavor without the sourness or bitterness of lemon juice.

You can try limoncello yourself by purchasing a bottle from Marco. We also sell a raspberry counterpart for those who prefer a berry flavor. Limoncello and raspberry cello are the perfect way to complete a large family meal this holiday season. Bottles sell for $18 for limoncello and $19 for rasberry cello and can be purchased at our Warner Robins and Macon locations.

Did you know that Frank Sinatra was an avid fan of Italian food? Ol’ Blue Eyes was passionate about marinara sauce, eggplant Parmigiana, tiramisu and cheesecake. In honor of his love for everything Italian, Marco will be hosting a Frank Sinatra tribute night featuring live music and some of Sinatra’s favorite dishes.
