2013 CLASS REPORTS! 3-4 M.B It has been a really successful year for our class. We have worked together really well and lots of strong friendship groups have developed. We have had class captains who nominated and voted in by students, which has been a great idea. We have learnt lots of Maths like multiplication, division, subtraction, and BODMAS. In Literacy we have learnt persuasive writing and created comics which were really cool. School is great when you get to do fun things and learn at the same time. This year we’ve had PJ day, healthy lunches, special persons day and great camps. We have all improved our behaviour, friendships and worked hard to learn lots of new things.

Grade 2, Ms Fasham We have been on camp to the Pioneer Settlement in Swan Hill. We have loved having the community lunches and cooking with Sharron. We walked to Victoria Hill when we were learning about minibeasts with university students. We all also loved our fish and chip celebration. It has been a great year, we have learnt so much and worked very hard.

Miss K’s 5/6 2013 has been another great year with the grade 5/6 students. Our grade has been involved in some exciting and interesting events. We had Penpals from Penzance, a town in Cornwall in the United Kingdom. We have helped the preps settle in and been there to help them. We have been involved in lots of sporting events both in and out of school. We have enjoyed all the usual special events that happen throughout the year like Book Week, LARP, Reading Olympics, Cooking, Healthy lunches, Music and Instrumental and of course our camp to Nillahcootie where we got to climb walls, canoe, do archery and tackle rope courses. We even had time to do a lot of work. We went to writing groups where we learnt to wright amazing reports and stories, researched and presented projects on areas that interested us. We also learnt the importance of being ethical users of digital technology and created amazing things on our netbooks. Another year over. From Ms K

Prep, Mrs Lowe We have had a fabulous year during 2013. We have grown emotionally, socially and academically. We have become fabulous readers, writers and mathematicians. Throughout the year we have enjoyed Mr Palmer’s gym, swimming, Prep Tea, cooking with Sharyn Smith and Community Lunches. The highlight of the year was our visit to the Fairy Park in November – with these two comments summing up the day: ‘This is the best day of my life’ (before we had stepped off the bus) & ‘Pinch me, I’m dreaming.’ Thanks to our parents for their great support during the year.

Room 2, Mrs Ellis, 2013 report 2013 has been a great year for our 5/6 class. We have worked well together and achieved lots of great things. For writing we were in groups with the other 5/6 class and we learnt about different text types and writing styles. Working on our own passion projects was great as we were able to explore our own areas of interest. We also created fantastic things on our netbook computers. Some of the best things we participated in this year were; LARP, Reading Olympics, Cooking, Instrumental Program and Lake Nillahcootie Camp.

Mrs Condon, Grade 3/4 This year has been an excellent experience for all of the students in our class. We have been to our grade camps, grade 4 to Lake Nillahcoote and grade 3 to the Swan Hill Pioneer Settlement. Our gym and swimming programs were fun and we learnt new things. Our teachers have been great towards us but we still can’t wait to finish school. In grade ¾ C we have enjoyed doing projects and learning about the topics we would like to learn about.

Special Events Flying Fruit Fly Circus Per Westman, comic and juggler of the flying Fruit Fly Circus came to our school and did what he does best; comedy and juggling. No plates were harmed in the making of this production. (But about twelve plates were juggled and balanced.) Space Production In our solar system there are lots of strange and wondrous things… and we found out all about it! Mercury, Venus, Mars, Saturn, Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune and more. It was so much fun learning about what’s floating out there. Book Week Dress Up Every year on book week our school has a book/movie dress up for the whole school. This year our book week featured knights, superheroes and purple minions. Epic battle, anyone Art Show Every year we have an art show. It’s a time where you can buy your child's art and see what they have done for the year. Community Lunch All classes attend a community lunch where we bring a special person to attend. We make lunch from all the veggies in our garden. Pt. Cook School During term two we had a school come to our school. They sang and played instruments. It was exhilarating fun and an enjoyable ride. Community Lunch Each class had two days this year where, with the help of Sharon and parents, every student has to cook the meals using a lot of the veges from our garden. We invite a special person (parent) to join us for lunch. Crazy Hair Day Everybody in the school came with crazy hair. All this was possible because of Teagan Bant in grade 6. She had her hair shaved at school to raise money for cancer research. Everything that we raised (it was a gold coin to participate) went to the Cancer Foundation. Jump Rope Many children from our school participated in jump rope for heart. From grades prep to six, everyone had fun and raised lots of money for the heart foundation.

Sport Our school has many in school and out of school sporting activities. The students in grades 3 to 6 participate in sport every Friday. We play games like volleyball, hockey, basketball and cricket. Mr White introduced a great game called ‘Golden Child’. Most of the activities involve sport. Some of the students in 3 to 6 represented the school in basketball, football and cricket carnivals. We also have also represented our school in more challenging activities, such as cross country and district athletics.

TEACHER TRAVEL During this year, some of the teachers have been on exciting holidays. These teachers were kind enough to tell us about their trips. Mrs Ellis, one of the grade 5/6 teachers’, went on an overseas trip to Bali in September. She loved Ubud, a city up in the hills. It has tree- lined streets and terraced rice paddies surrounding it. While in Bali, she ate a lot of rice and something called Nasi Goreng. She also tried some chicken feet which looked weird but tasted OK. One of Mrs Ellis’s highlights was a bike ride from the Mt Batur volcano, downhill to Ubud. The funniest thing that happened to Mrs Ellis on her trip was continually being called “Rhonda”. Mrs Ellis is planning to go to Europe and Britain in the future.

Miss K, the other 5/6 teacher, went to Europe in April. First, she travelled to Madrid, Spain. Next she spent a week walking in Spain. Following Spain was France. She spent time in the south and 3 days in Paris. After that she went to the U.K and stayed in London. She spent 5 days in Cornwall and her favourite place was France. She tried some rice, risotto and pasta on her trip. Her favourite thing was when she saw the queen. She also would like to visit closer places like New Zealand.

Mrs Bruce went to Hungary, Austria and Italy. Her favourite country is France. Mrs Bruce loves French bread, baguettes, almond croissants and fried sardines. The highlight of her trip was seeing the Eiffel Tower. The funniest thing that has happened to her was the time when she accidently left her bag on a bus and nearly missed her train .She would like to go back to Paris and Croatia.
