19th Sunday in Ordinary Time The SECOND COLLECTION for the month of August will be taken the weekend of 18th and 19th. As a parish we are sponsoring a young seminarian, Anthony Ojukwu, who is from the same village in Nigeria as Fr. John Ugobeze (from Danville). Anthony is a senior seminarian of the Catholic Archdiocese of Onitsha, Nigeria. Having just finished his philosophical studies at Pope John Paul II major seminary in Okpuno Awka, John will continue in October with his theological studies. Your financial support will cover his tuition and allow him to continue his studies without interruption. Please give generously.

Celebrate 100 years of Holy Cross School & Church!! Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross Sunday, September 9th through Wednesday, September 19th. Here are just some of the many events we look forward to enjoying…..

Sunday, September 16th Holy Cross Contemporary Choir. The Contemporary Choir will provide music every Sunday at the 4:00 p.m. Mass beginning on September 9th. We regularly feature guitars and piano, and add specialty instruments such as trumpets or percussion, whenever possible. New members who are committed to serving in this ministry are always welcome. This year we are especially looking to add vocalists. Being able to read music is helpful, but not required. We practice one evening during the week and before Mass on Sunday afternoon. If you are interested, please contact the director, Janis Schweizer at 359-6530 or by e-mail at schweizer4@comcast.net using “Holy Cross Choir” in the subject line. COFFEE AND DONUTS. In Mid-September the Sunday morning Coffee Shop will resume. We need a little of your 'TIME' to host. "Host" volunteers will work only one Mass. Please sign up to host after the 8:00 a.m. or 10:00 a.m. Mass. Coffee Shop gives us a chance to get acquainted with other parishioners. Please give a small amount of your time to keep it going. Call Cheri at 352-4918 if you have any questions. P.S. This gift of time would be a great family project once or twice a year. If you are a member of a group (scouts, RCIA, a bible study group, Family Formation, etc.), why not sign up for a couple of times? It only takes 2-3 people to do the job. THE BIBLE TIMELINE STUDY. Mark your calendars! Our fall Bible study will be The Great Adventure Bible Timeline 2.0. This is the one that started it all--the foundational study in The Great Adventure Series. And now, it's even better. The videos have been redone with new graphics, maps, and animations to make it more understandable. The entire Bible tells a story, and when you learn that story-the Bible comes alive. The Bible Timeline will take you through that story. The study begins October 1st and 2nd and lasts 24 weeks. The deadline for registration is September 17th. To register, call the Parish Office at 352-8748.
