‘FEASTS FOR FATHERS’ Ministry Thanks to everyone who has responded to the ministry to provide dinner for our priests. Your thoughtfulness to share your talents are a blessing and the fathers are enjoying some delicious meals. If you have not yet responded, you are invited to consider sharing your Culinary Talents to help provide Fr. Dave, Fr. Bill, and Fr. Santa with dinner during the week. All you have to do is make a little more of what you’re fixing for yourself and share the wealth. It doesn’t have to be fancy….just tasty. A calendar has been set up that you can go to and sign up for a specific day to bring them a meal. You can volunteer just one time, or pick the same day each month, or bi-monthly, to bring food. All the information you need is on the website including time of delivery and restrictions. Just log in using the codes below and help us fill the calendar. Care calendar # 154196 Helper security code: 9944 Questions? Contact Cindy Howie at 352-8748. Happy Cooking!!!

Seventeenth Sunday in Ordinary Time OUR PARISH Parish Office Summer Hours

The Parish Office will be closed every Friday at Noon.

Before you enter the church sanctuary, please make sure all cell phones, pagers, and other electronic devices are turned off.

Regular Friday hours will resume August 16th. FAITHFUL DEPARTED. Your prayers are requested for the repose of the soul of Helen Gierut. May her soul and all the souls of the Faithful Departed through the Mercy of God, rest in peace. The HOLY CROSS BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT GROUP will meet next Sunday, August 4th, after the 10:00 a.m. Mass in the Parish Center Mezzanine. Anyone suffering the loss of a loved one is welcome to attend. AUGUST HEAVENLY DUSTERS are Sarita Pankau and Lia Hege.

MASS LED BY OUR CHILDREN Mark your calendars and join us NEXT Sunday, August 4th at the 4:00 p.m. Mass which will be led by our parish children. The children will be lectors, ushers, greeters, and will sing in the choir. Interested in helping or volunteering to participate? Call the Parish Office at 352-8748. RECYCLE YOUR MAGNIFICATS!! Please place your old Magnificats in the basket provided at the back of the church and we will use them for various projects and ministries.

Thank you for keeping our church a sacred place. COFFEE & DONUTS IS COMING SOON. In mid-September the Sunday morning Coffee Shop will resume. Coffee and donuts are served after the 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Masses. “Host” volunteers can volunteer for both Masses or only one Mass. Coffee Shop gives us a chance to get acquainted with other parishioners. Give a small amount of your time to keep it going. Watch for Sign-up sheets in the back of church. Call Cheri @ 352-4918 if you have any questions. P.S. This gift of time would be a great family project once or twice a year. If you are a member of a group (scouts, RCIA, a bible study group, Family Formation, etc.), why not sign up for a couple of times? It only takes 2-3 people to do it. A special COMMODITIES COLLECTION is being taken in order to collect supplies for school kits to be made for children in need in the United States and third world countries. Supplies for one kit are: 4 - 70-count spiral notebooks 8 - unsharpened #2 pencils 1 - 12 ct box of colored pencils (NO CRAYONS PLEASE) 1 - flexible plastic ruler 1 - pink eraser Please leave your donations at the back of the Church or drop them off at the Parish Office.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS!!! JOIN THE FUN!!! Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross Sunday, September 8th through Saturday, September 14th.

Don’t miss a single moment of fun. There’s something for everyone.

Moms and Dads of our youngest parishioners! Thanks so much for the patience you show your little ones as you work with them in becoming a part of the celebration of the Mass. Don’t give up on your efforts to form our future Catholic leaders! They are a blessing to have at Mass and they will learn through your love and perseverance.

Watch future bulletins for all the details.

Please keep in mind that their little voices can carry and that it’s important for them to learn that church is a place to use inside voices. Feel free to take them to the back vestibule any time if they need some focused instruction.

There are also Children’s Church Kits at the back of the church to help keep their focus on Jesus and the Mass.

OUR SCHOOLS Holy Cross Crusaders 356-9521

Holy Cross Family Formation Family Formation is a religious education experience for the entire family. It’s open to all Holy Cross families with children in grades K-6. For the rest of the month, parents have faith formation sessions at home with their kids. We provide you with all the materials, training, and expertise necessary. For children not enrolled in the Catholic school, Family Formation fulfills the need for religious education and sacramental preparation. However, school families are more than welcome.

Holy Cross School has two teaching positions available: Science 7&8/7th Grade Teacher - Full-time Spanish teacher - Part-time Interested applicants please contact the principal, Chris Ellis at the school at 356-9521.

Year of Faith 2012-2013 10 Ways for Catholics to Live the Year of Faith 10. Incorporate the Beatitudes into daily life. The Beatitudes (Matthew 5:3-12) provide a rich blueprint for Christian living. Their wisdom can help all to be more humble, patient, just, transparent, loving, forgiving, and free. It’s precisely the example of lived faith needed to draw people to the Church in the year ahead. How can you live the Beatitudes daily? It’s good to know we aren’t alone in our efforts to live a good life. Find your place and your peace in the Beatitudes.

WANT TO JOIN THE CATHOLIC CHURCH? If you, or someone you know, want to become Catholic, now’s the time to make that call! Classes are for: Non-Catholics who know they want to join or who may be interested in joining but need more information first, Catholics who have never received the sacraments of Eucharist and/or Confirmation, married couples of mixed religious faiths who wish to unite their religious practice in Catholicism. Please contact Marc Cardaronella at 352-8748 for more details.
