Sp=R 1.

SPARSH (Touch) is something that we can’t miss out on. It is considered to be one of the most significant sensory phenomenon. My concept is inspired by BRAILLE, a system that helps visually challenged people to read and write through touch. Such special people can feel and know about physical space by smell, sound and touch. The story, Sparsh, is simple yet liberating making it a powerful artwork. The idea of ‘Sparsh’ arose from the concept of lift buttons where along with the numeric symbols, there are raised dots which is the concept of braille used by the visually challenged people. I gathered more information by spending my day at a Blind Association. With one of their sessions called ‘Vision in the Dark’ helped me fathom their experience. The story and the garment is fabricated to inspire and to get inspired.

IDEATIONS

A cell is made up of 6 dots that fit under the finger tips arranged in two columns of three dots each. Ideations are done by considering these cells placements in mind and used their hand movement as a motif.

The vision of the project is achieved by taking a rose fragrant fabric (most recognisable fragrance) and weaving it into a saree so as to weave the emotions through it as well. 7 MANSI AGARWAL/ B.DESIGN- FASHION DESIGN/ 2016-2020

OWN ARENA 2. 8 MANSI AGARWAL/ B.DESIGN- FASHION DESIGN/ 2016-2020

OWN ARENA is about modern design that honours past. Expect classic and outdoor styles to be subverted with a streetwear edge. This concept arose from the 90’s movie ‘CLUELESS’. The Focus is on making better, without replacing classics. Streetwear will remain an important driver for women’s wear, but it will be updated with a more formal aesthetic. Embracing a more experimental approach to shape, colour and styling. Shake up traditions by pairing unusual colours such as mustard with black and white checks.

‘DAILY HEADLINES’ is a research-based project where I get inspiration from ‘The Newspaper’and study in detail about the popular newspapers, top news, layout etc. I created my own section in ‘Nations Eye’, the PAGE 4, as a theme board by creating some puzzled artworks which is written in a form of unsolved criminal cases and it will come after the Fame page no. 3.

MOOD board

TREND board In an uncertain and increasingly politicised world, CREATIVE MANIFESTO explores the instinct to stand out and make an impact. For womenswear, this results in bold, unapologetic designs that make a statement. The Focus here is on FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION. (TREND STORY BY WGSN)

CLIENT board My Client is a Product Design student. She is focused on more internal thoughts, inward turnings, feelings and moods rather than seeking out external stimulation. She likes to read books of Agatha Christie and get inspired to make an bold, unapologetic statement.

MYSTERIOUS- In this mood, things are hidden and puzzling. 13 MANSI AGARWAL/ B.DESIGN- FASHION DESIGN/ 2016-2020

FABRIC: WHITE COTTON

Exploring smart, minimalist workwear staples that are versatile enough to offer sophistication at work as well as smart leisure. Ikat print is a key for this garment. Lines to define the edges of a form which lead your eye and communicate information through their character and direction. Structures in this garment have a sense of modern ease. Asymmetrical reversible short jacket, one third sleeve with split-cuff and straight fit trousers update minimalist structures. The more understated, the better.

FOLDED FORMS CONSIDERED COMFORT The rise of artisan kidswear brands signify a new-found respect for skilled workmanship within the premium market. Complex pattern cutting in the form of structured folds, tucks and pleats create strikingly structured silhouettes, but also still work with the body. - Trend Story by WGSN

5. 20 MANSI AGARWAL/ B.DESIGN- FASHION DESIGN/ 2016-2020

‘Folded Forms’ is an experiment with a fusion of style and Function, incorporating layers to create textures for Kidswear. The Inspiration came from the Japanese craft ‘ORIGAMI’. Origami is the art of folding paper into shapes. I tried to do origami with fabric instead of paper to reconstruct the classics in the form of silhouettes by keeping comfort in mind.

Corset is on an optimistic, confident and a global appeal to take a stand both socially and ethically. Now is the time to step into your power. KHADI is a reflection of Indian culture which is known for its simplicity and comfort. Interpreted khadi as versatile and comfort in a way which is not commonly used, by making a corset from the draping technique.

‘AAR-PAAR’ is a Semi- Formal, winter collection brought by 11 neophyte yet enthusiastic designers for MISS INDIA KHAADI COMPETITION. The Collection comprises of a century old fabric (KHADI) wearable for the jeans clad and crop top wearers of today. It bridge the gap between conventional and modern aesthetics. It caters to the young professional energetic women of India. We have interpreted our collection as versatile by making our garments structured along with an asymmetric look.

We recieved alot of appreciation from our jury panel and the judges. We won two awards namely ‘BEST KHADI THEME DRESS OF THE YEAR’ and ‘BEST INNOVATIVE DESIGN OF THE YEAR’ in December, 2018.
