Cool Winter Nights, Hot Jazz will feature Brian Shaw, Willis Delony, and Bill Grimes in a program of new arrangements and holiday favorites including the classic Duke Ellington version of the Nutcracker Suite.

Hartley/Vey Theatres at Manship Theatre are a haven for emerging artists and art forms. They are a gathering place for true artistic expression, be it music, dance, theatre, spoken word, or visual and digital arts. And because ticket prices are affordable, they’re accessible to Baton Rouge area residents of any age or income.

Hang with Family Dinner comedy troupe in our Hartley/Vey Studio Theatre for some live Improv Games. We have no idea what to expect, but there is only one way to find out.

MUSICAL ENCORE SERIES

Created to present musical theatre ranging from the dearly loved classics to the interesting and innovative in a simple but captivating way, offering another opportunity to enjoy a good Broadway show tune or toe tapping dance number.

The Great American Songbook also known as American Standards was the birth of the most influential American popular songs and jazz standards of the 20th Century. Your favorites are all here performed by a jazz trio and a talented group of local singers who will narrate you through this musical period. Paige Gagliano will serve as director with Mike Esnault as music director, arranger, and conductor. Join us as we celebrate the “Founding Fathers” of American music.

This fun Cabaret for talented kids returns for year three! Auditions for ages 10-17 will be open to the public with performances held in the Hartley/Vey Studio Theatre. Once the cast is set, the performers will be assigned a song to perform that is suited for their level of experience. They will receive one on one coaching to perfect their approach to singing and acting a song in an intimate cabaret setting. Audition date to be announced.

MANSHIP THEATRE PROGRAMS MANSHIPON THEMOVE Manship on the Move takes great quality and diverse programming outside its theatre doors and into the community, bringing world class talent to hospitals, schools, community centers, businesses, and more!

SUMMER CAMPS Manship Theatre’s Summer Production Camps provide a creative outlet for kids during their summer away from school. Some are preparing for futures in the performing arts, while others simply enjoy an expressive outlet. Regardless of level, it’s our belief that every individual has a unique spark- something special to expressand it’s our goal to help that spark shine brighter through the arts.

KIdS CLUB Designed for children from Pre-K to 5th grade, Kids Club offers a variety of features and activities just for kids, including pre-show parties or snack packs, a chance to meet the actors from the family performances, and art activities with Knock Knock Children’s Museum.

JONES WALKER FOYER GALLERY

The Gallery at Manship Theatre and the Jones Walker Foyer Gallery are contemporary visual art exhibition spaces that are free and open to the public. Programming includes rotating exhibitions presented by regional artists and curators, along with receptions, galas, speaker series, & independent performances. Previous exhibitions have included works by Edward Pramuk, Hunt Slonem, CC Lockwood, Robert Rector, and Rigsby Frederick.


FILMS AT MANSHIP PROGRAMMING Manship Theatre features new release, independent, foreign and documentary films. The theatre also presents monthly retrospectives, cult classics, and special screenings like our Dinner & a Movie program and Spoof Nights!

LSU’s FMA partners with our film program to give audiencess access to pre-show film discussions, or “crash courses” from Faculty & Resident Filmmakers. Our encore screenings from National Theatre feature exciting performances from the best of British Theatre.
