Founded in 1970, PHILADANCO! has a legacy of breaking barriers and building bridges across cultural divides, consistently performing for audiences of people from diverse communities. PHILADANCO! is recognized for its artistic integrity, superbly trained dancers and electrifying performances. Inherent in their mission is a commitment to empowering youth with essential developmental and leadership skills that facilitate achievement and success in the world of dance and everyday life.

Tab Benoit is a Grammy nominated singer, songwriter and guitarist who has built a remarkable 30+ year career on the foundation of his gritty and soulful Delta swamp blues and acquiring a devoted legion of fans along the way, as well as 5 Blues Music Awards, including BB King Entertainer of the Year (twice) and an induction into The Louisiana Music Hall of Fame.

NOV 21, 2021 | 7:30 PM Peabo Bryson, the legendary voice of love, is back, and music has never been happier. Peabo is not just “back”, he is back and collaborating with powerhouse producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis for his 21st album titled “Stand For Love. This music dream team has delivered something music and music fans didn’t know was missing… R&B HITS. The lead single off this 11track masterpiece, “Love Like Yours and Mine,” makes it clear that Peabo is better than ever. The second single, “All She Wants To Do Is Me”, has already been featured on the Showtime hit series “The Chi”. Crystal Gale HOLIDAY SHOW

DEC 11, 2021 | 7:30 PM Crystal Gayle is an American country music singer and songwriter and sister of Loretta Lynn, Gayle has won one Grammy Award and has been nominated for several others since the 1970s. She has also won five Academy of Country Music awards, and Rolling Stone ranked her among the 100 greatest country artists of all time. CMT has ranked her within their list of the 40 greatest women of country music.

JAN 21, 2022 | 7:30 PM The Coasters are an American Rhythm & Blues and rock ‘n’ roll vocal group that had a string of hits in the late 1950s. Beginning with “Searchin” and “Young Blood”, their most memorable songs were written by the songwriting and producing team Leiber and Stoller. From “Yakkety Yak” to “Charlie Brown” to “Poison Ivy”, these monumental songs helped induct The Coasters into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987.

This new play, with original songs and music, explores the valiant and courageous personalities behind one of the most critical chapters in the history of the Civil Rights movement. Freedom Riders demonstrates the importance of working together to affect change and specifically how non-violent protests were used to focus attention on the cruelties of segregation.

White's loving story of the friendship between a pig named Wilbur and a little gray spider named Charlotte. Wilbur has a problem: how to avoid winding up as pork chops! Charlotte, a fine writer and true friend, hits on a plan to fool Farmer Zuckerman. She will create a "miracle." Spinning the words "Some Pig" in her web, Charlotte weaves a solution which not only makes Wilbur a prize pig but also ensures his place on the farm forever.

Colin Hay MAY 5, 2022 | 7:30 PM

Colin James Hay is a Scottish-born Australian musician and actor who made his mark during the 1980s as lead vocalist of the band Men at Work and subsequently as a solo artist. Singer/Songwriter Colin Hay is the former front-man of the classic Australian band Men at Work. Since the group disbanded he has released several solo albums, including Man at Work, which featured re-recordings of classic Men at Work songs in an acoustic environment. Hay has also been involved with the NBC TV series Scrubs, lending several songs to the sitcom, including “Waiting for My Real Life to Begin,” “My Brilliant Feat” and “Beautiful World.”

Hartley/Vey Theatres at Manship Theatre Hartley/Vey Theatres at Manship Theatre are a haven for emerging artists and art forms. They are a gathering place for true artistic expression, be it music, dance, theatre, spoken word, or visual and digital arts. And because ticket prices are affordable, they’re accessible to Baton Rouge area residents of any age or income.

Improv Comedy Nights Hang with Baton Rouge’s own Family Dinner Comedy Troupe in our Hartley/Vey Studio Theatre for some live Improv Games. Comedy nights are scheduled every other month. Check our website for scheduled dates. We have no idea what to expect, but there is only one way to find out!

Musical Encore Series Created to present musical theatre ranging from the

dearly loved classics to the interesting and innovative in a simple but captivating way, offering another opportunity to enjoy a good Broadway show tune or toe tapping dance number. Stay tuned for “I’m Every Woman: Celebrating the Great Female Vocalists of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s” on January 7th & 8th at 7:30 PM.


Films at Manship

Manship Theatre’s film programming currently features new release independent, documentaries, foreign films, film retrospectives, cult classics, and timeless musicals. We have hosted many local, national, and international film premiers with unique components like Q&A’s with filmmakers, live music, and interactive panel discussions.

With our season programming, rental events, gallery exhibitions, and educational outreach, we serve over 40,000 people MANSHIP ON THE MOVE: mobile arts program, sending artists into local hospitals, schools, community centers, and assisted living facilities. SILVER EXPRESSIONS: an arm of Manship on the Move and provides outreach for seniors in our community. Manship brings performing artists to seniors and provides teaching artists to work with them on creative projects as well as tickets to performances at Manship Theatre. CAMP SPOTLIGHT: partnership with Cancer Services providing children affected by cancer the opportunity to sing, dance and perform live on stage! EDUCATION PROGRAM: provides teaching artists in local schools and offers opportunities for students to attend educational professional touring productions at Manship Theatre. Scholarships are also given to attend Manship Theatre’s Summer Camp program.
