We're excited that Andrew Day has been appointed as our new Chief Executive Officer. Currently the Director of Corporate, Business and Finance at Yarra City Council, Andrew will join us on Monday 17 September. Mayor Cr Conlon, said: “We are delighted to be welcoming Andrew to Manningham. His appointment was a collective decision of Council after a far reaching and very rigorous search. Finding the most suitable candidate that is both experienced and best positioned to lead the organisation moving forward was front of mind while undertaking this very competitive recruitment process." Andrew has been the Director of Corporate, Business and Finance at the City of Yarra since 2015 where his responsibilities include finance, information technology, procurement, audit, corporate planning and performance, customer service, corporate records, parking and compliance services. He has also held a number of executive and senior management positions in local government over the past 13 years, as well as management roles in the not for profit and health sectors. Andrew said he was pleased to be offered the opportunity to work with Council as Manningham's Chief Executive Officer. With his skills and experience perfectly complementing the needs of the organisation, we will continue to focus on improving service delivery in a financially responsible and sustainable way for the benefit of the city’s vibrant and diverse community, now and into the future. We look forward to welcoming Andrew to Manningham next month.

NATIONAL TREE DAY A successful community tree planting day was held on Sunday 29 July at Ruffey Lake Park to celebrate National Tree Day. Each year thousands of families, businesses and groups across Australia take part in National Tree Day, although events can be held at any time during the year. 169 people attended our National Tree Day event and 1015 plants were planted, staked and guarded along Ruffey Creek in the north part of the park. Every year Planet Ark undertakes research for National Tree Day, with the key objective of inspiring people to spend time in nature. This year's research looks at Australians attitudes towards technology and the role it can play in enhancing time spent in nature. Research shows that Australians spend just three per cent of their week in nature, yet almost three hours a day on their phones, primarily on social media. Any queries please call Nancy Stokes on ext. 138 or email nancy.stokes@manningham.vic.gov.au.

TEMPLESTOWE PARK TENNIS CLUB OPENS Templestowe Park Tennis Club celebrated the opening of its new club house facilities on Friday 3 August with a special visit from tennis legend John Fitzgerald. Upgrades to the club were designed with a special purpose in mind, to provide better access to people of all abilities to come and play tennis at the club. We provided $380,000 for the club upgrade. Supporting Templestowe Park Tennis Club is just one way we’re working hard to promote disability inclusion in Manningham. Being a part of a local sporting club is more than just access to health and fitness, it facilitates a feeling that you’re a part of a team, a group of people and a community.

FELICITY LUCARELLI SENIOR INTEGRATED COMMUNICATIONS ADVISOR BRIEF BACKGROUND I’ve come from the private sector, based in corporate and financial services. My most recent role was at Transurban, they own and operate most toll roads in Australia. This role is my first soiree into local government, although I’ve worked closely or in partnership with different government bodies throughout my various roles. My experience sits in comms, PR, brand, UX/CX, digital and social (media). My favourite function of marketing is creative brand work – hands down.

MY INSPIRATIONS People who make a positive difference. I think real and tangible change is often hard to achieve. I’m pretty passionate about social justice so I really respect people who take the time to advocate for social causes.

LITTLE KNOWN FACT ABOUT ME I am born on Christmas Day. I love shows like Q&A, Insight and Australian Story when most of my friends tend to become obsessed with shows like The Bachelor or Love Island (no judgement if you do).

FAVOURITE STUFF Sun, beach, travel, hikes, nature, shopping, food, coffee, fam/ friends.

OUTSIDE OF WORK, I LIKE TO... Do all my favourite stuff. I like to exercise too.

CURRENTLY I AM... Planning for a European summer in 2019. South of Italy, Greek Islands and Croatia.

HAVE I MET ANYONE FAMOUS? A few! Roger Federer at Crystal Club in Crown. I was staying there while the Aus Open was on and so was he. We got heaps of selfies and he was really nice. While I was at uni, I used to nanny for one of the Real Housewives of Melbourne (ha ha!) – It was a great job! I met Ted from How I Met Your Mother – Josh Radnor. I ran into him on the streets of New York a few years ago.
