Memorial Day ceremonies will take place in Granville, Whitehall and Hartford. The Granville Parade will kick-off at 10 a.m on Monday, May 27. The Whitehall parade will also start at 10 a.m. at American Legion Post 83 on Main Street. Hartford's parade will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday. See details inside.

Summer Reading GRANVILLE Join The Puppet People at 1 p.m. on May 25 at the Pember Library and “Dig Into Reading” to solve the mystery of Book Island in this puppet pirate adventure. The Puppet People are husband and wife team Mark Carrigan and Michelle Smith-Carrigan, who have been entertaining people for over 20 years. Lake Meeting WELLS The Lake St. Catherine Conservation Fund will hold its Annual Meeting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 25, at the Wells Village School. A report on the use of aeration will be provided, along with current end pending permits for hydroraking, hydraulic dredging, and the use of other non-chemical lake management strategies. Monday Fort Memorials FORT TICONDEROGA Memorial Day will be observed with a number of special activities on Monday, May 27, at Fort Ticonderoga. There’ll be guided tours at 10:15 a.m. and 1:15 and 3:45 p.m.; garden and grounds tours at 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.; and a cannon demonstration at 2 p.m. Active duty military members will receive a 10 percent general admission discount with proof of service. Parade GRANVILLE The annual Memorial Day parade will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 27. The parade will start at the Mettowee Cemetery and continue to Veterans Park. It will stop

for ceremonies at the Veterans Clock and the bridge before a final prayer and ceremony and laying of the wreaths in the park.

Parade HARTFORD The annual Memorial Day parade will start at 6 p.m. at the school and continue up to the town barn on Monday, May 27. In the parade will be a President Lincoln reenactor and Grand Marshall and World War II veteran Earl Morrow. A takeout chicken and biscuit dinner will be offered at the Hartford Methodist Church from 1 to 5 p.m., and parade attendees are encouraged to bring a nonperishable food item for the food pantry.

Parade WHITEHALL The annual Memorial Day parade will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 27. A ceremony to honor America’s fallen soldiers will be held following the parade at Riverside Veterans’ Memorial Park on Main Street.

Tuesday Seniors’ Lunch WEST PAWLET The Haystack Hustler Seniors group will meet for its last lunch of the season at noon on Tuesday, May 28, at the Mettawee Community School on Route 153 in West Pawlet. 5K Race/Walk

Annual Rail Trail to the Footbridge 5K Trail Race will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, in Granville. In addition to the 5K race there’ll be a fun walk and 1K kids’ fun run. Top finishers will receive prizes such as Telescope directors’ chairs and maple syrup from Rathbun’s Maple Sugar House.
