Bennington Museum welcomes military As a member of the Blue Star Museum program, the Bennington Museum has announced that all active duty military personnel and up to five members of their families will receive free admission to the museum through Labor Day, September 3. The Bennington Museum is part of more than 1,500 museums across the country participating in the program. “As a Blue Star Museum, we are delighted to welcome to the Bennington Museum all active duty military members and their families as our guests,” said Acting Director Edie Sawitsky. “It is a way of thanking them for the sacrifices they make every day.” At a recent weekend drill, the members of Bravo Troop, 1-172 CAV (MTN), Vermont National Guard led

by Captain Zachariah Fike stopped by the museum to explore the mili-

tary gallery. They discussed the battle that took place in Bennington

with museum trustee Don Miller. The Blue Star Museum program is a collaboration with the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, and the Department of Defense. “This is both an opportunity to thank military families for their service and sacrifice, as well as a chance to create connections between museums and these families that will continue throughout the year,” said NEA Chairman Rocco Landesman. Active Duty military includes Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard and active duty National Guard and active duty Reserve members. The complete list of participating museums is available at www. For more information about the Bennington Museum, call 802-4471571 or visit www.benningtonmuse-
