Battle of the Bands 10th year The Granville FFA’s 10th annual “Battle of the Bands” is set for Saturday, Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. in the Granville High School auditorium. This year’s theme is a “Decade of Rock.” The FFA invites everyone to come enjoy the fun and entertainment, especially past FFA members. A number of past acts are coming back to perform, and the $500 prize is open to singers, dancers, bands – and anyone that wants to participate. Advance tickets are $10 and tickets at the door are $12. Battle t-shirts will also be available. All funds raised will help FFA students travel to conventions and competitions.

Tree Lighting in Granville Friday The spectacular annual lighting of the Christmas tree and festivities in Granville will take place on Friday, Dec. 2 at 6 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park with the theme, “Frozen in Granville.” Based on the movie “Frozen,” the magical scenes of Elsa and Anna will take over the park as lights will be synchronized with video from the movie. Santa’s arrival by horse-drawn carriage is the highlight of the event as kids line up to meet Santa and receive a gift. Children wishing to see Santa will need a ticket which they

can obtain at the ticket booth located inside the park that evening. Hot cocoa and coffee, cookies, and toasted marshmallows over a fire pit will keep everyone warm throughout the event. Sky lanterns will be launched into the air following the light show. Visitors are invited to visit the Festival of Trees at the nearby Slate Valley Museum and the Festival of Wreaths at the Pember Library and Museum.
