I am proud to announce that I am celebrating thirty years of practicing law in downtown Fair Haven. I am honored to work with, for and around the other business people in Town. My law office has actually been here since 1951, started by my father after Jack’s Restaurant closed and Jane Lloyd was looking for a good tenant. She settled on my father, Cranston Howe. I was born and raised in Poultney; I live in Castleton and play on Lake Bomoseen, but I work in Fair Haven. People who ask me where I am located, I tell them “I am in the Fair Haven Business District and my office is in the skyscrapers”. What I have found as I reflect is that business people in this community work hard to innovate, create and make our Business District attractive to the public who pass through. Think about what has evolved in the Fair Haven Park over the last several years, it is similar to a Vermont fashioned rural “Disney World”. My office is a place that I enjoy and my assistant, Linda Way and I work with state of the art equipment, surrounded by an eclectic collection of memorabilia. Like many competent lawyers in Rutland County, we strive to competently advise and represent our clients, while fitting into a rural Vermont setting. Fair Haven Business District is filled with business people who seek to serve the public and provided the services or commodities that are needed in our community. My office offers representation, consultation and expertise in probate practice, family law, civil law, real estate, criminal law, municipal law and personal injury.

Concert series The 2013 Fair Haven Concert Series will once again enrich the lives of community members. The ten concert season will begin on Thursday, June 20, and continue through Thursday, August 22. All concerts will begin at 7 p.m. The season kicks off with two new lively and fun bands. On June 20, Yankee Dixie brings Dixieland to the park. This lively eight piece band features several musicians from the popular Green Mountain Swing Band. They play the toe-tapping music of the American South and promise to get the season off to a roaring start. A week later, the group Mellow Yellow will bring the music of the 1960s and 1970s to the gazebo. This cover band is amazing as they play top tunes from the Monkees, Turtles, Rolling Stones, Donovan and many more. Friday, July 5, is reserved for the 40th Army Band. The band was a huge hit in 2012
The bandstand in Fair Haven's park. drawing an audience of over 1,300 to the beautiful Fair Haven Park and Commander David Meyers accepted an invitation to return this summer. As always the band will play standard military music, traditional and con-
temporary Americana, and there will be some surprises as well. Because the 4th of July falls on Thursday this year, we have decided to move this concert to Friday night, July 5. We chose to do

this so as not to interfere with other areas' Fourth of July celebrations. The concert to will begin at 7 p.m. Bluegrass comes back on July 11 with the Fair Haven debut of Snake Mountain Bluegrass. Featuring the Connor Sisters of Orwell and local legend Freeman Corey, this band will satisfy even the most ardent Bluegrass fan. On July 18, Dennis Wilmott returns with his band, Left Eye Jump. The band made its first Fair Haven appearance last year and brought the house down. The Blues never sounded better as Wilmott’s energy and showmanship made for an incredible performance. The bands scheduled for July 25, August 1 and 8, Possum Haw, Prydein and The Moonlighters Big Band are well
known in Fair Haven and each returns for a third straight year. These bands bring a wide range of musical styles including the beautiful harmonies of Colby and Ryan Crehan, the intense fusion of rock and bagpipes by Ian McHarg and Aaron Garceau and the classic big band music of the 1940s and 50s played by Janet Hewes and her 16 piece band. Another great cover band returns on August 15. TS Ensemble was a huge Fair Haven hit last year. Their expressed goal is to get you up dancing. Last year the Starline Rhythm Boys were rained out at the last minute. They will be back for a no-holds-barred, Honky Tonkin’ show on August 22 to end the concert season.
