The run/walk will start at 10 a.m. Everyone is invited to participate and their is no registration fee (donations welcome). Also, everyone who participates will receive a raffle ticket. At the end of the 5k the raffle will be held with top prize being a Telescope Patio Set - and many more prizes. All the money raised by this event will benefit the Granville Rec program.

Car Wash GRANVILLE The Girl Scouts of Northern Washington County are holding a Car Wash and Bake Sale at the Granville Hook & Ladder Company station on Quaker Street on Aug. 11, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. All proceeds will go toward the troop’s fourth annual “adopt-afamily” program for Christmas. The girls have

helped some 25 children from 10 families, with toys, clothes, food and other needed items over the first three years.

Fun Run/Walk GRANVILLE The third annual Granville Summer Rec 5K Fun Run/Walk is a loop beginning and ending at the elementary school . Registration is at 9 a.m. and the run/walk starts at 10 a.m. Volunteers and police officers will help guide runners to stay on the race route. There is no registration fee, but donations are welcome. There will be a raffle of gift certificates for all participants, from local businesses. Grand prize is a Telescope patio set. All money raised goes to the Granville Youth Recreation Program.

Backpack Project GRANVILLE The sixth annual Backpack Project will be set up at Granville High School from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 11. Students in the Granville school district, as well as those who attend Mettawee Community School or live in Wells, Vt., can get a free backpack and school supplies through the community-supported project.

One-Room School WEST PAWLET The Pawlett Historical Society invites everyone to visit the one-room Braintree School on Route 153 in West Pawlet from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 11, 18 and 25. This schoolhouse was

fully restored in 2008 and 2009, bringing it back to the way it was when built in 1852. Write with a quill pen and ring the bell that called students to class.
