Cruise Promos Guidebook 2011
The Flavors of Asia Summer sailing starts as early as March next year when most of the cruise lines offer their promos for holidays onboard their ships. Booking them now assures you of the best cabin locations and the best rates (some offering early bird discounts). The early bird indeed catches the worm. Cruising Asia is a popular start-off point for first-time cruisers. As they say, “Once a cruiser, always a cruiser.” A lot of cruise lines have seen the viability of having a cruise ship in this part of the world that guests have a field day when it comes to the best rates compared to 10 years ago when cruising Asia has been monopolized by Star Cruises. These days, one can choose to go on a Royal Caribbean cruise or a Costa Crociere cruise. I have always been asked which one is the best and like I always say, each cruise line has something different to offer. Each has its own character. I have been lucky enough to try them and indeed one can feel the difference on each and every ship. They have their own culture onboard. If you haven’t yet, try an Asia sailing this summer. 2 night, 3 night or 7 night cruises are up for grabs and rest assured, that much needed short break will be well worth it.
Kids Cruise FREE!!! You read it right! Children below 18 years old cruise for free onboard Costa Crociere’s cruise ships. They only pay port charges and the mandatory insurance to be able to sail with you this summer. Isn’t that just great?

What’s New With Star Cruises? SuperStar Libra embarks on a new itinerary with cruises out of Penang in Malaysia. Penang is an interesting mix of East and West. Despite its modernity, it has managed to retain its old world charm. Its famous city Georgetown has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. For foodies, Penang has been regarded as the food capital of Malaysia. PLACES TO SEE IN PENANG Penang Hill Flagstaff Hill (Bukit Bendera) as it is officially known provides a welcome respite from the heat of the city. Breathtaking panoramic views of the island awaits visitors. A funicular train takes you up the hill where restaurants and temples are located. Blue Mansion Also otherwise known as the Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion, this building was built on the principles of Feng Shui. It was once the home of an influential Nanyang industrialist and his wives. Enjoy the mansion’s intricate details and lush interior which has been well-preserved throughout the years. Kek Lok Si Temple The largest Buddhist temple in Southeast Asia stands on top of a hill in Air Atim. Founded more than a hundred years ago, it features beautifully landscaped gardens and sacred temples. The Pagoda of 1,000 Buddhas houses a collection of Buddha statues made from all sorts of precious materials. The massive bronze statue of Kuan Yin stands high up on the hill and measures 120 feet in height.
Superstar Libra ex-Penang From Feb 20 sailing onwards This is unlike any other Asia cruise itinerary. Explore the flavors of Penang, the beaches of Phuket and the diving sites and Spas of Krabi. Apart from this 3 night cruise, SuperStar Libra will also offer one night cruise experience starting next year. If you want to explore the wonders of Penang, this will be a welcome retreat. I have personally been to Penang and I’d have to say, there are a lot more I should have seen with the limited time I was there. Its old world charm is enchanting. Superstar Libra holds 1,472 passengers.
