During immersion in the study of Brazilian indigenous History, the Mameluca Studio developed a series named Uiurar, word in Tupi (Brazilian indian language) which means lacing. For the creation of the series, we seek inspiration in the architectural roots of old tribal structures where the method chosen out mooring. The mooring is the technical procedure that allows to join constructive elements of the indian architectural structure. Among the existing moorings, we focused our study on the intertwining systems in which joins pieces of wood with liana. All Brazilian indigenous groups employ the liana in the intertwining technique. For instance, the ethnic named Karajá uses for the construction of the old houses. Other groups like Tiriyó and Tukâno use mixed media using lashings and grooves. Currently, after the contact of the Indians with the regional people, the use of intertwining technique was amost declined to the use of nails to replace textual loops. In addition to the moorings being used in a structural way in the indigenous architectural projects, they are also quite useful in coating systems as well as the intertwining of finlets two palm leaves, like the Karajá or as Tukano people forming panels that are applied on the structure and then attached by binding technique. Taking into consideration the intertwining of the logs with lianas from prime materials, we we analyzed, how the woods are sold in the cities today and what type of technology we use for intertwining system. So we used objects, forms and systems of the past mixed with the advances of modern civilizations. From these proposal, we defined the material to be explored would be the types wood used in the furniture industry in large-scale on each region where the furniture would be produced. They will be used from the primary form found in stores which are the battens. The bonding system of the truck’s intertwining systems was defined as the most effective for the studio proposal. In Uiurar series there is no groove, glue or nail. The woods are trapped only by the ratchet. This enables people to do other pieces from their new needs.
