Ensure Your Baby’s Eye Health through InfantSee Cooing, sitting up, and crawling are signs that your baby is growing. Your baby’s vision has stages of development too, but the signs marking progress are not as obvious.

Of the 3-4 million babies born every year in the US, 1 in 20,000 has retinoblastoma, 1 in 25 will develop strabismus, and 1 in 30 will develop amblyopia. Many eye conditions don’t have symptoms that can be identified by a parent or by a pediatrician in a well-baby visit. Early detection is the best way to ensure your child has healthy eyes and appropriate development of vision. InfantSEE is a program designed to ensure that eye and vision care becomes an integral part of infant wellness care. We feel so strongly about the importance of healthy vision that participating optometrists like Dr. Richard will provide a no-cost comprehensive infant eye and vision assessment between 6-12 months of age.

IS THERE REALLY A MAGIC POSTPARTUM PILL?

Could you imagine a magical supplement that had been perfectly cultivated to your specific postpartum needs; something that helps you heal quickly and made you feel rested and calm, despite having a newborn.

PLACENTA PILLS

I have good news for you...there is! Your placenta is extremely nutrient dense and can be a critical part of your recovery, if you plan appropriately. It is not only beneficial to the baby in the womb throughout pregnancy; it will help you have an amazing 4th trimester. Some of the ways you can benefit include: greatly reducing your risk of the baby blues and anxiety, helping balance your hormones, naturally boosting your milk supply, and helping to decrease fatigue by energizing you. To get access to these amazing benefits there are a few choices. Most commonly, families select the encapsulation method and sometimes add a tincture for use later on in life. It’s easy as a mother to forget to take care of yourself, especially if this isn’t your first child! When you have Holistic Sister encapsulate your placenta; you will get a quick and convenient service. Having placenta pills on hand is the easiest way for a new mom to get these benefits. Included in all placenta packages is a one of a kind artistic print and keepsake. The processing is taken care of by the time you have returned home from delivery and all you will need to do is let the doctor know you want to keep your placenta. Scheduling your encapsulation in your 2nd trimester is best for securing availability. If you’re considering placenta encapsulation as part of your postpartum recovery, schedule a free consultation with Holistic Sister. 6

Germantown Academy

Day Camp & Summer Programs June 19 – August 11

Ages 3-16

Germantown Academy Day Camp and Summer Programs in Fort Washington, PA has been offering campers in the Greater Philadelphia area opportunities to learn, play, and grow for 48 years. With more than 50 thoughtfully programmed camps for children ages 3-16, GA continues to provide a safe and picturesque environment for campers to make lifelong memories and friendships. The breakout hit of 2016 was the expanded Adventure Course, featuring nine new high ropes elements rising 50 feet up in the trees adjacent to the Wissahickon Creek, testing campers’ balance, coordination, and problemsolving skills. The course concludes with a thrilling 100-foot zip line ride across the creek. Summer 2017 features new programs for our youngest and oldest campers. Specialty Camps for 4- and 5-year-olds are designed for campers with specific passions and interests, and Teen Caravans are weeklong trips for rising 8th, 9th, and 10th graders.

Day Camp runs week to week, so there’s plenty of opportunity to mix in some of our specialized Summer Programs, such as Coding, Rocketry, Kids Kitchen, Art Quest, Summer Pops, and Belfry Theatre! Mama’s Fur Babies

Daisy, a Pitty/American Bulldog mix is available for adoption. Daisy is about 2 years old. With her current foster family, training and lots of love, Daisy is more relaxed and happier than she was when she was first surrendered to Bella Reed. She is a sweetie and is ready for her furever home! At this time, we are recommending Daisy be the only pet in the home, as she has been reactive to other animals (dogs/cats) she has seen. She is easily redirectable while on walks when she sees other animals, but will react. She remains to be extremely sweet with people and older children and all she wants is belly rubs and snuggles! Daisy is spayed, current on vaccines, microchipped, dewormed, 4dx heartworm negative, and on monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventative.

Become a Foster Parent for Fur Babies!

Fostering a dog is one of the most rewarding things you can do as a Pit Bull lover. Shelters are full to capacity with these wonderful animals. We do not have a physical building to temporarily home our dogs in need. This is why we rely on our Foster Families to home our dogs while they are waiting to join their forever family. As Foster, you can save a precious life. You can give dogs the comfort, love, shelter, and care they are longing for and desperately need. Fostering is not a financial burden. We provide the initial supply of food, vet care, crate (if needed), toys, and other items as available. Will YOU open up your heart and home to save a life? Photography + Pets = Passion

Everyone has a passion, or something they love to do. Some find that passion at an earlier age than most. My daughter Maddie, has had a passion for animals since she was a very small child. We had and have countless pets, not to mention the 100's of birds, baby rabbits, turtles, that have somehow found us to help them or take them for help to the AARK in Chalfont. This year my daughter started college to become a Vet Tech. As a way to make some spending money, Maddie decided to start her own pet sitting business which includes walks, feeding, and pictures sent to the owner’s phone. Photography is another passion of Maddie’s so she offers pictures of your furry friends in addition to basic pet care needs. She has taken care of countless pets in our neighborhood! She currently works at a local pet resort/doggie daycare, and has helped with fostering many rescue dogs for Bella Reed Pit Bull Rescue. If you are looking for a pet sitter who will be treat your pets like family and love them as if they are her own, call Maddie! One thing I have learned about being a Mama is when your child shows an interest in something, let them follow it and stand behind them. You never know where it will take them. Mama’s Hacks: Tips to Make Your Life a Lil Easier

We all seem to be so busy.  Running around with the kids, taking them to all their activities, school, homework, dinner, etc.  I am always looking for ways to make everyday life easier.   Below is a list of my favorite hacks from my blog on www.mamaslilguide.com. I hope you enjoy and use these as much as I have!   These should make more time for family and fun and less time trying to figure out the small stuff!  Enjoy!

Cleaning Hacks

Organizing Hacks

Use an old sock to clean your blinds.   Just put over your hand like a glove and wipe away the dust.    Dust your lamp shades with a lint roller Clean the grime off your cabinets with an old toothbrush and 2 things you have in your cabinets. Mix 1 part vegetable oil with 2 parts baking soda.   Make a paste, apply with hands, let sit for a few minutes and rub with toothbrush… Whoo hoo…  Gone Clean toys, pet toys, brushes, combs, knobs, soap dispensers, flip flops, in your dishwasher.   As long as they are dishwasher safe, let it do the work for you.   Then to clean your dishwasher, place a cup of vinegar in a glass measuring cup on top rack and run again at highest temp!    Old cookie sheets can be new again.  Use a mixture of baking soda and vinegar, let sit a few minutes and rub all over pan then wipe away all that gook Use vinegar to remove grass stains from clothes Use lemon and some salt to clean a wooden cutting board Sprinkle a little bit of cinnamon on your carpets before you vacuum for a nice smelling rug

www.mamaslilguide.com

Use shower curtain rings with a clip to clip on your face wash, shampoo, etc Use large binder clips to store your charging cords for your computer, phone, internet Store your sheet set in the coordinating pillow case. Place a tension rod under your sink to store cleaning products. Hang the handle on the rod. An old ice-cube tray makes a great organizer for your earrings and other jewelry Label totes Monday thru Friday and put outfits for the week for your child. Clothespins are great for keeping toothbrushes off the counter Silicone cupcake insert in your car cup holders is a great way to keep gunk out of your car cup holders. Keep a blackboard in your kitchen to write on when you run out of something.  Paint one of your cabinets with chalkboard paint to save wall space! Label laundry baskets for each child, use when you are cleaning the house and fill each with their stuff.  Maybe make a prize for the one which has the least amount of things in it at end of week!

A Story to Inspire You Did you ever think that you could change your children’s behaviors by simply singing a song?

with a song called Eyes? This fun song reinforces the importance of eye contact. This song and many more, are what your child or preschool can experience through our classes.

As a mother of 3 grown children, and with the support of my husband, Music, Manners and Me started over a year ago. Music, Manners, and Me combines my education degree, and my experience working with children in the early intervention field by writing and performing children’s songs to introduce and reinforce positive behaviors.

This entertaining, new 8 week program with CD, is offered to preschools, daycares and home schools and supports teachers and parents! Visit our website at musicmannersandme.com or call 215-287-6428 to schedule & learn more!

Teaching children the importance of friendship and respect is so important, especially since technology is such a big part of their lives. So many "eyes" are now looking either at cell phones or computer screens. What better way to get their attention than 22
