Montessori Philosophy The child, the “curiosity animal”, is an observer, explorer and experimenter from birth and possibly to some extent, even before that.
• • • • • •
Maria Montessori's entire philosophy was basically scientific. She based all her understanding of children not on foregone conclusions of how they ought to behave, but by careful, prolonged observations on how, in fact, they actually functioned. By learning from the environment, the child's natural scientific approach to phenomena will be enhanced instead of stultified.

PrePre-School Program Highlights The “Prepared Environment” provides exercises for practical life. Family grouping and “guided freedom” promote a spirit of cooperation with classmates. Phonetic analysis through “sounding out” and tracing sandpaper letters prepares the child for reading, writing and spelling. Maria Montessori observed each child is born with a Mathematical Mind. Sensory materials provide order and precision which lay the foundation for basic mathematics. Elementary Language Arts Curriculum The Elementary Language Arts Program immerses the children deeply in the world of reading and writing. The curriculum is designed to educate children in reading, critical thinking, sequencing, comprehension, vocabulary, spelling and imagination.
