Join us for our second year in Studio One as we welcome you to a new season of Take Part workshops. Our weekly programme has expanded to now showcase 25 workshops.

New classes will accompany returning favourites in dance, drama and art to form a balanced selection of inspiring and engaging opportunities here at Malvern Theatres.

In this brochure you will find details of our weekly classes, as well as half-term specials and pop-up workshops. The classes are curated to span all age groups and abilities, so you have lots of choice to find what suits you best. Our workshop practitioners are highly trained in their field and are full of enthusiasm to support creative exploration and expanding your potential. We are proud that our practitioners share our passion for engaging communities across the Three Counties and beyond.

Parents & Wobblers

Movement Class for under 4s and their carer

Jiggle and sway the morning away with this fun, interactive movement class for little dancers and their grownups. Packed with play and movement that sparks tiny dancers’ imagination and creativity, encouraging development and confidence in early years.

Little Theatre Makers

Interactive Drama Class for 5-7 years

These fun-filled classes will be packed with imagination and games, while building confidence and creativity. With a friendly, playful and encouraging environment, we will explore all aspects of drama, musical theatre and dance.

Junior Theatre

Creative Drama Class for 8-11 years

Create believable characters and learn the basics of stage craft and vocal techniques. These fun and creative sessions are perfect for improving drama skills, confidence and creativity.

Junior Musical Theatre Academy

Multi-disciplinary Theatre Class for 8-11 years

This class will look at building a strong foundation of skills across all the disciplines of Musical Theatre by learning songs and dance routines from your favourite Broadway and West End musicals. We will nurture your confidence in performing and working as an ensemble. Please wear comfortable clothing you can move in and trainers/shoes that are suitable for dance.

Junior Street Dance for 8-11

years

If you find yourself watching the dancers on shows such as Britain’s Got Talent, The Voice etc., and thinking ‘I wish I could dance like that’ then this is the class for you! Combining influences from many dance styles, such as: commercial, hip hop and jazz. Street dance will help you to find your groove, confidence and build your sense of rhythm.

Sing it Loud: Youth Fun

choir for 10-16 years

For singing superstars in the making. Share your beautiful voices together in this supportive and fun choir. You will learn and practice songs to develop your musical repertoire whilst being guided through vocal score, learning harmonies and working together as an ensemble.

Youth Theatre

Advanced Drama Class for 12-17 years

Youth Theatre improves performance skills, vocal techniques and enhances knowledge of theatrical practices. Participants are also invited to see a drama performance each term from our theatre programme at no additional cost.

Saturdays 14th September to 30th November (No session 2nd November) 11am-12.30pm

Senior Musical Theatre Academy

Advanced Musical Theatre Class for 12-18 years

Our Senior class works towards enhancing performance techniques and professionalism across the Musical Theatre disciplines. You will continue to build skills and learn new repertoire from your favourite shows. We welcome students of all abilities if you want to pursue the arts or just want an evening of fun.

Please wear comfortable clothing you can move in and trainers/shoes that are suitable for dance.

Contemporary Dance for 12-19 years

An exciting and dynamic contemporary dance class. Our aim is to empower our dancers to find their own individual voice through exceptional training in technique, choreography and performance. The dancers will experience what it is like to work as part of a professional dance company, creating and performing work for performance and adding a new dance style to their repertoire. Contemporary Dance for 16-65 years+

With this open level contemporary dance class we believe that movement is a universal language and a wonderful way to express yourself while strengthening the body and supporting positive mental health. We will explore both technical and improvisational exercises to improve agility, memory and postural alignment. You will develop your own dance ability while being part of a joyful intergenerational group.

Contemporary Dance for over 50s

This contemporary dance company aims to celebrate and showcase the unique and wonderful contribution older dancers bring to the stage. No previous dance experience is required, just an openness and willingness to explore movement in a supportive and positive environment. You will discover the joy and freedom of moving the body and connecting with others.

ChiChi Fit

Musical Theatre Dance Fit for 17+ years

ChiChi Fit is a musical theatre dance fitness experience which will brighten up your week! Enjoy a sensational musical theatre inspired exercise class. Shimmy and sweat to iconic showtunes. It’s not just a workout; it’s your ticket to a fitness experience providing a mixture of low and high intensity routines.

Introductory Irish Dance Class for Adults

Discover the joy and energy of Irish dance! Whether you’re new to dance or looking to try something different, this class is the perfect introduction to the vibrant world of Irish dance. Learn the basic steps and work up to the reels and jigs of Riverdance whilst having fun and meeting new people.

The Big Jig

Advanced Irish Dance Class for Adults

In this more advanced class, you’ll build on your solid foundation and master the intricacies of the lively jigs and mesmerising reels. Irish dance is not just about the impressive footwork; it’s an invigorating workout that improves coordination, strength and flexibility. Chance to Dance

Dance Exercise Class for Over 50s

A wonderful opportunity to take part in an enjoyable dance exercise class and groove along to your favourite songs. This session teaches basic dance routines using simple movement for anyone aged 50 and over. We encourage you to go at your own pace with different intensity options embedded into the class.

Gentle Dance

Seated Dance Class for Adults

A gentle, seated dance class, with opportunities to stand if you’d like to. Sessions are designed to exercise, motivate, and uplift, helping to reduce stress and tensions associated with illness, injury, pain, or lack of confidence. Taking inspiration from a range of music, we dance together at a gentler pace, helping to reconnect, strengthen and energise body and mind.

Sing it Loud!

Musical Theatre Choir for Adults who love to sing

If singing is your passion and you are waiting for your moment to shine, join with other like-minded people and share the fun of singing together in a group. You will look at singing repertoire from ‘Golden Age’ favourites to present-day showstoppers, whilst learning techniques to keep your voice healthy and strong

Introduction to Scriptwriting

Creative Writing Class for Adults

In this enjoyable and informative ten-week course, you will be taken through the basics of scriptwriting from how to generate ideas, to getting that script written. Subjects covered will include: differences between prose and scriptwriting; story and plot; where we get ideas from and writing for stage and screen!

Make Your Mark

Mixed Media Creative Art Workshops for Adults

These are interdisciplinary creative art workshops, offering innovative and varied techniques. With an emphasis on drawing and mark-making, you will explore artistry and camaraderie by working to a united theme. Come along and release your creativity. Specialist materials are provided.

Make Your Mark Xtra

Creative Art Workshops tailored for Adults with Learning Disabilities

Sessions are tailored to enable participants to create in a way that is suited to them. It also offers the opportunity to enjoy spending time with people and to express individuality though working with a variety of mediums. Make your Mark Xtra provides a great boost of confidence and concentration. All materials are provided.

Junk-Book Journaling

Mindful Crafting for 17+ years

Let’s explore ways to collage and combine paper-based materials into a small concertina booklet. Using vintage papers, old books, luggage tags, maps and music score, we’ll deep dive into the world of junk-book journaling. A great way to spend a relaxed evening in a supportive, creative environment.

Specialist materials are provided.

Play Reading Group

Join our Artistic Director, Nic Lloyd, to read through and chat about some of your favourite plays from Malvern Theatres’ history. All are welcome whether you choose to read, or listen to the play happening around you.

Wickedly Wild Clay Play

Join us for a family-fun craft session using air dry clay and natural materials to make and decorate your own Halloween pumpkins. Led by Creative Clay practitioner Anna Mitchell, you will be supported in shaping, sculpting and perfecting your spooky masterpiece! Children under 7 must be accompanied by an adult. All materials will be provided.

Actor’s ToolkitShakespeare

Join local professional actor Moa Myerson to explore the fundamentals of approaching and performing Shakespeare’s texts. Through acting exercises and games, you will be equipped with the tools to tackle some of literature’s most famous lines and discover an accessible way to engage with “The Bard”.

Bring a speech you’ve been struggling with or one that you’ve always wanted to have a go at and we’ll break it down together. Sat 9th November 2pm-5pm 17+ £25

Vice Principle at Amelia K Academy, Alicia teaches a variety of dance styles, acting and singing and loves working with young people to develop and nurture their passion of the arts. Alicia leads our Little Theatre Makers and Junior Street Dance Class.

Freelance dance practitioner for Dancefest, teaching for 18 years. Amie’s main passion is working in community settings and providing opportunities for children to dance in a friendly and creative environment. Amie leads our Chance to Dance and Parents and Wobblers sessions.

Artistic Director of Translucent Dance Company and MA Dance Research student at Rambert. She provides high quality training for people of all ages and has alumni working within the dance industry world-wide. Anna leads our Youth Contemporary Dance class and our Thrive and Regenerate Dance Companies.

Anna’s main practice as an artist is in ceramics, delivering her Creative Clay workshops. She loves mixed media art that is intuitive and process-based, enjoying the freedom and sense of wellbeing that creating brings. Anna leads our Make Your Mark Xtra classes.

Director of Our Star Theatre Company. Ben is an enthusiastic drama facilitator and director who is passionate about bringing theatre experiences to young people. Ben leads our Junior and Youth Theatre classes.

Bridget is a designer-maker with experience in mixed media processes. She has a passion for motivating and nurturing the aptitude of all our participants, the therapeutic value of the arts is paramount. Bridget leads our Make Your Mark classes.

PRACTITIONERS

Jack Ludwig is a celebrated theatre performer, creative and practitioner known for his dynamic range of experience having toured around the world as a performer and worked extensively as a Director & Choreographer. Jack leads our Junior and Senior Musical Theatre Academies and Big Jig Irish dance classes.

Steve Wilson

Jeanette is a professional artist who also collaborates creatively with many organisations. She is a popular tutor, and her workshops encourage participants to explore a variety of materials and processes. Jeanette leads our Junk-Book Journaling workshops.

Community Dance Studies at Trinity Laban and a Masters in Choreography have enabled Marie to share the health-boosting gift of dance with all ages and abilities for over 35 years. Marie is a freelancer for Dancefest and leads our Gentle Dance Class.

Nicky is an experienced ChiChi instructor who will ensure you release your inner stage sparkle with dazzling results! Nicky currently teaches classes across Worcestershire with her infectious high energy style. Nicky leads our ChiChi Fit class.

Stephen is passionate about teaching students of all ages how to sing and develop their musicianship. As a Musical Director and choir leader, he brings decades of experience to every rehearsal. Stephen leads our Sing it Loud Youth and Adult choirs.

Steve is an experienced performer, writer and tutor whose company Crave Arts run creative writing projects and are a feature of the Worcestershire arts scene. Steve leads our Introduction to Scriptwriting class.
