Is anything more fun than entertaining, offering hospitahty to friends and relations, enjoying with others a certain lavishness and celebrating with food and wine? Family meals are at the centre of our culture while greater feasts mark success with shared pleasure. This is the theme of our summer exhibition this year. At root these Bacchanalian pleasures are based on the enjoyment of the riches of food and drink. The way we shape these customs into our houses has always been endlessly fascinating and full of variety. Here we lay out some fine furniture and much else that was made for the grandest hospitality. These objects are still wonderfully appropriate for creating a delightful breakfast room, a lunch party or the ultimate in dining and drinking. Lanto Stnge
