THE COMELAST SYSTEM

For a long time the offer of innovative underfloor heating and cooling systems was focused mainly on new constructions or complete renovations. Nowadays it’s always more important to offer systems that fit also the steady growing market of partial renovations and maintenance which requires efficient alternative solutions and low energy consumption for heat distribution with real energy savings. . The building renovation is always a challenge, because of structural architectural and cultural restrictions, but also timing ones. It’s necessary to precisely analyse the building’s conditions before choosing the suitable radiant system.

Our research began by studying high quality raw materials with a high mechanical yield and building a repeatable system. The primary objective was the identification of highly elastic building materials, able to respond well to the frequent variations in size caused by a thermodynamic regime. Together with Kerakoll, leader in the bonding and screed sector, we have created a new product to meet these thermo-mechanical demands.

FLEXIBILITY THE STRENGTH OF COMELAST SYSTEM RESISTANCE AND FLEXIBILITY: EXCELLENT THERMAL AND MECHANICAL PROPERTIES The new COMELAST system is recognized for the excellent thermal and mechanical properties (continuous, seamless surfaces). The product is a bond/screed that allows you to lay floor covering at the same time as leveling the system; it is a sort of “fresh on fresh” laying technique, which was once used for non-radiant flooring. It is a synthetic product but with a low environmental impact. Its main feature is that it can stretch up to 25% of its length beyond its dimensions without splitting or breaking, which is impossible with bonds or screeds with hydraulic binders. Thanks to this feature, in an open space, you can design continuous surfaces of very large dimensions, with no continuity solutions for up to 250-300 m 2 on almost any mechanical support. Even those subject to high vibrations for example wooden or iron floors. . 8

REDUCED THICKNESS AND LIGHTNESS OF THE SYSTEM FOR VARIOUS APPLICATIONS THIN SYSTEM Since its components are so thin, with COMELAST you can renew heating systems without invasive works on the flooring or screed, allowing reduce increase of the base weight (about 10 kg/ m2 covering excluded). RESISTANCE AND STRENGTH

Spreading the light and resistant panels is easy and gives a faultless finish, with a fully adhesive base that ensures a firm and accurate bond with the surface it is applied to. In case of not binding thickness constraints, to the COMELAST system can be applied an insulating panel (in one or multiple layers) with higher thermal resistance or equal to the value of UNI EN 1264-4.

THERMODYNAMIC PROPERTIES OF THE COMELAST SYSTEM

THERMAL CHARACTERIZATION: HEATING AND COOLING MATHEMATICAL DATA FOR DESIGN The COMELAST radiant system has been designed through rigorous research and using precise and verifiable mathematical data. This is quite the opposite of what usually occurs in our sector, where products are created through improvisation on site. COMELAST can became your ideal radiant system, matching your specifications, for buildings under renovation, with a high energy rating, based on a solid system supported by proven laboratory data.

A series of thermo-fluid-dynamic simulations were carried out to study the performance of the radiant flooring both in heating and cooling. These simulations took the thermo physical features of the system’s materials into consideration and were monitored by ITC-CNR. Experimental measures were carried out in a climate-controlled cell at the ITC-CNR under stationary running conditions and in transitory operation, both for heating and cooling.

PROLEVELING SYSTEM KIT FOR TILES LEVELING Proleveling System is an innovative leveling way for laying medium and large sized materials of thickness between 3 and 40 mm. The patented system is composed of 2 elements: • One leveling element (1,2,3 and 5 mm) with distance pads, which allows to distance/separate/approach any kind of floor in: linear way, cross and half-cross with joints from 1 mm, 2 mm, 3 mm and 5 mm. • One centrally threaded stem, fixed orthogonally/ perpendicularly to the base with different easy breakage points, allows the clamping handle (extractor) to adjust the exerted pressure on the surface and leveling the floor and/or coat in a uniform way. 20

At the end of the laying and of the required period for adhesion/ bonding with the floor/coat is sufficient to do one stronger rotation/pressure to remove the threaded stem/extractor or by kicking extractor in the joint direction. The extractor is unique for all heights and models and is reusable. The new PPLS system (patented) has the purpose to avoid the formation of differences in levels, “teeth”, between the slabs of ceramics, marble, natural stone, low slim thickness for a perfect flatness of the floor and/or coat.

Le attività di ricerca sono partite dalla costruzione di un sistema ripetibile e dallo studio di materie prime di alta qualità e grande resa meccanica. Il primo obiettivo è stato l’individuazione di materiali edili ad alta elasticità, capaci di rispondere meglio alle frequenti variazioni dimensionali imposte dal regime termodinamico. Abbiamo realizzato, insieme a Kerakoll, leader del settore colle e massetti, un nuovo prodotto capace di soddisfare queste nuove esigenze termomeccaniche. Abbiamo analizzato, caratterizzato e realizzato il nuovo sistema COMELAST presso i laboratori dell’ITC-CNR di Padova, ente con cui abbiamo un contratto di ricerca ormai consolidato nel tempo.
