l’Ecole de Choix / the School of Choice (Haiti)

I just wanted to take a moment, in what feels like these last few minutes before our Saturday Benefit for l’Ecole de Choix/the School of Choice (Haiti), to express our very deepest gratitude to Make it Better for all that you have done on our behalf and over the past few months. The reason that this is so important is that you are ensuring that the voices of the 183 Haitian students of l’Ecole De Choix are heard. These children who are working so hard deserve to be heard. They have independent thought, they have important ideas and, one day, I truly believe, they will be the future leaders of the Haitian nation. I just wanted to be sure that you knew how much all of your work means to all of us. Thank you, again.

Can Big Government Learn from Community Government? by Brad McLane, Winnetka

The non-partisan caucus system has a lot going for it as it focuses on the greater good of the community. So, if Tip O’Neil was right and “all politics is local,” then the big question is how do we get our local politics to work at a county, state and Federal level? education options: k-12

Thank you for publishing the informative article, “Primer on Education Options: K-12,” in your October 2012 issue. However, parochial school tuitions were greatly overstated. At St. Athanasius School (K-8) in Evanston, single student tuition ranges from $6,000 to $7,200 depending on whether the student is a parishioner or non-parishioner. Other Catholic Schools on the North Shore also have tuitions that are far less than were reported in last month’s article. Sincerely,

Susan A. Castagna, Principal St. Athanasius School

Editor’s Note: The tuition range we listed reflected pa-

rochial high schools, not elementary or middle schools. We apologize for not making that clear.
