Letter from the CEO and Board Chair DEAR FRIENDS, This past year, we were honored to create incredible life-changing experiences for hundreds of children and their families. We closed fiscal year 2017 (September 1, 2016 through August 31, 2017) with 325 wishes granted. Additionally, we facilitated 696 wish assists for those coming into our territory from around the globe. That’s more than 1,000 life-changing wishes created!

Stephanie McCormick President & CEO

Each of you played a role in creating these impactful experiences for our wish families this past year. These wishes don’t just happen, it takes generous donors, a committed board, passionate volunteers and a dedicated staff to create this kind of magic for our wish children. As we celebrate our 35th year as an organization, we are excited and optimistic about the future. We remain committed to granting the wish of every medically-eligible child living in our footprint. As our wish pipeline grows, we need to have the support from our local community, donors, volunteers, medical professionals, neighbors and friends to continue to provide the resources needed to create these impactful and life-changing experiences. We thank you for your ongoing and generous support for our wish children! Best Wishes.

Michael P. Hickman FY17 Board Chair

I wish to have my dogs groomed Isaac, 8 leukemia

One moment changes everything. From laughter on the playground to a negative medical report. From family dinners at the kitchen table to eating hospital food while tucked in bed after a procedure. One moment changes everything. That’s how we feel about wishes. A granted wish gives a child a moment, an hour, a day or a week to let loose and enjoy life. A wish brings smiles, memories and laughter for years to come. We believe that every medically-eligible child should be granted a wish – it brings hope, strength and joy to all those involved and is something that can never be taken away.

A granted wish turns a life-threatening illness into a life-affirming triumph. Our wish children are filled with imagination and each wish experience is unique to every child. These moments leave a lasting impact on wish children and their families – often leaving them happier, more confident and renewed to overcome every obstacle. This year, with your support, we were able to create 325 life-changing moments for local children battling life-threatening medical conditions. Additionally, we assisted with granting the wishes of 696 children who came from all over the world to have their wishes granted in our region.

Together, we are transforming lives, one wish at a time. As our organization grows, we are continually overwhelmed by the support from our local community. From monetary donations to airline miles – every little bit helps us carry out our mission. Your support has created life-changing experiences for all of our wish children and their families.

Volunteering takes moments of hard work, patience, love and dedication to create memories that will last a lifetime. Encompassing Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties, our volunteers help grant a wish every 27 hours. This year, nearly 690 volunteers supported our mission delivery, 343 of them as wish granters. When you add in the support of nearly 45 interns and office volunteers complementing our paid staff throughout the year, our volunteers contributed more than 12,900 hours in fiscal year 2017, accounting for nearly $367,000 of donated time!

Giving to others is the best investment you will ever make. The donations we receive play an invaluable role in our ability to serve wish children and their families. Generous contributions give us the momentum we need to reach the next benchmark in wish granting, propelling us even closer to achieving our vision of granting every eligible child’s wish.

Every year, Make-A-WishÂŽ Orange County and the Inland Empire impacts hundreds of incredible children thanks to generous contributions from individual donors, corporations and community organizations.
