PROJECT DESCRIPTION Our group will create a new fashion & retail store and develop a detailed business plan for this company. It will be a start-up company, catering to a target market of environmentally conscious consumers, both men and women of all ages. The products will include not only “eco-friendly” clothing, shoes, and accessories, but the company itself will also use environmentally friendly products and practices (recycled paper for print material, reducing paper usage, “green” energy to power the store, maintain storefront with eco-friendly cleaning products, etc). The company will essentially be selling a “green” image to the consumer.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES Company Mission Statement: To provide environmentally conscious consumers not only with “green” apparel, shoes and accessories, but also a company dedicated to environmental responsibility, which they can trust to enhance their green lifestyle. Product Design

To design/purchase and sell organic (cotton) clothing for the eco-conscious consumer.

Quality Control

Clothing and apparel will be inspected to ensure value to consumers.

Process Design

Production will be monitored to ensure eco-friendly measures are taken to produce products.

Location Strategy

Stores will be located in fashion centers in Bergen County, NJ and Fashion District, NYC.

Human Resources

Staff will be trained to understand measures taken by company to create an eco-friendly store.

Supply-Chain Management Inventory & Materials Scheduling Maintenance Cost Management Environmental Responsibility

Collaborate with suppliers to effectively stock stores without excess or waste. Achieve low investment by monitoring consumer taste & demand to provide products. Achieve high levels of customer service and delivery through effective scheduling. Efficiently use facilities and equipment, reducing cost and waste of energy & resources. Examine production to increase efficiently and reduce costs. Ensure the carbon-footprint left by the company is not detrimental to the environment.

RESOURCES & REFERENCES Though this is a new company concept, we will draw inspiration from other similar businesses, including other apparel retailers and “green” businesses, including “Greenhouse,” a nightclub in New York City, which is an eco-friendly club – complete with green design, wind power, and energy efficiency, and even garbage disposal. Furthermore, we will use organic clothing manufactures’ business plans to develop our own business plan.
