MOVING IMAGE ARCHIVE KELVIN HALL, NATIONAL LIBRARY OF SCOTLAND From home movies to documentaries, industry to entertainment the National Library of Scotland Moving Image Archive explores 100 years of Scotland’s history captured by amateur and professional film-makers. It is a space which engages visitors of all ages and backgrounds, whether students researching or families seeing what life was like when Granny was wee.
media (break out the Betamax and VHS) as well as an exhibition which introduces the Library’s full collection in Edinburgh.
The space - with the redeveloped Kelvin Hall in Glasgow - consists of an informal drop-in area (where visitors become acquainted with the archive through curated material), study areas with task seating (and access to the full archive), rentable rooms to view analogue
It’s especially great to have worked on a project that is continuing to get praise by the client and MIA staff themselves. First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon, described the space as being “really, really amazing, much more than I expected”.

INTERFACE SHOWROOM CLERKENWELL DESIGN WEEK 2017, LONDON Interface, Inc. is the world’s largest manufacturer of commercial carpet tile and is setting the pace for development of modular carpet using materials and processes that take less from the environment. This year, with interface, I worked on display guidelines comprising a toolkit to satisfy both small private events to international trade shows, worldwide. It was sampled with a showroom showstopper for Clerkenwell Design week in London which showcased key clients and products within our ‘room set’ environments.

INTERFACE EXHIBITION CLERKENWELL DESIGN WEEK 2016, LONDON Creating spaces in 3 different venues for 3 separate campaigns, all to be installed at the same time, and designed at speed, sounds a bit daunting. Especially when the spaces are for a client with the reputation of interface - the largest supplier of carpet tiles in the world. There were other questions to resolve. One campaign - describing interface’s R&D work with collaborators - had great stories to tell but a huge amount of information to get across. The other, an overview of interface’s long standing environmental policy, the exact opposite.
The third area, within the Clerkenwell showroom itself, was focused on product launch but also required a nod to the other 2 campaigns. We answered the problem by being calm, consistent, asking the right questions early on, and developing a robust strategy with long-term collaborators, Good Creative. We created a modular family kit (based on the tile sizes themselves) which we could pick from, changed the mood in the first two areas with lighting, and for added value, devised touring flight cases which blended seamlessly with interfaces commitment to be carbon neutral by 2020.

EDINBURGH ZOO Wee Beasties exhibition is the biggest new attraction, for the smallest of animals. This year round, indoor exhibition is a home to a number of exciting species including reptiles, amphibians and insects. The new exhibition will be used to host educational sessions and even some live animal handling. • INTERPRETATION PANELS • INTERACTIVE PANEL “Wee Beasties is a fun and interactive exhibit that takes you on a conservation journey through the eyes of a keeper, educating visitors about the impact even the tiniest critters can have on their surrounding ecosystems and how important it is to conserve them.”
